Thread: Hello! Help asked from a TKM

Hi. I am currently a TKM, sort of casual player (weekends I get on a lot.) I was thinking about crafting, and as wepons cost so much for other classes, I thought this would be good to make money in. I was wondering, how hard is it to compete with other weponsmiths? I can get all the materials with some money off of Janta missions for the grind, but once I master will it take a long time to get the resources to make good wepons? Is it worth it to go weponsmith? I thought crafting looked fun, having to change the experimentation, using good materials and finding and mining it. But I don't want it to take too long to start making money once I master. So, if anyone could help me with whether I could compete with semi-casual play. Also, if I can, what template should I do? I was thinking Master Weponsmith/Merchant, but should I master artisan? Or should I go up smuggler and drop some merchant? Thank you for your help.
Well i did this started a new alt and did WS, i spent around 14 million on resources 2 months back, and im still in the Red. You need named resources alot of them in good qualities. You can buy alot of them, but it will cost you. You will also need to check for resources every day, to see if there are any new spawns of resources, checking multiple planets for them or using one of the online sites with the spawns but they are often slowly updated and so on.
If you plan to gather everything and not buy it, you might end up spending 3 - 4 months atleast gathering resources to compete with other smiths. In short WS is alot of work, and you will need to log in once a day for 1 hour atleast to make sure everything is in order ( harvesters, spawns, stock on vendor, factories).
I like being a WS,itsa relaxing break from combat, i would go nuts without my combat Alt though.
As for templates, its kidna what do you want to do. Be a Ws with all sorts of weapons, or specialisein one type of weapons. If you plan ondoing only one type ranged or melee you dont need as much vendor space. If you sell sliced you cancharge more for the ones with goodslices, but the low slices will be very hard to sell.

If you intend om making big bucks as a crafter you might as well go Armorsmith or Chef. Only lootweapons (krayt, acklay) make you the big bucks nowadays, especially if you are a new smith. Whereas Composite armor and Brandy crates always sell, and at higher and higher prices..
