chill someday people will learn....
All these crafters and their low SAC weapons. Most times these are pre-CU components? I hit good dps and lower sac than most on my server. I go for both. Not just one or the other. I dislike having to stock multiple vendors some for high dps some for low sac weapons. I try to get high dps and low sac at same time.
305dps pistol with 103SAC isnt to bad. Made with all post-cu components.
Comapred to 270DPS 96SAC made by others WS's on my server using pre-cu components.
I dont think my pistol is to bad, might have 7pts high in SAC but how much does 7pts effect you compared to having a good bit more damage?
I need to test this on my combat alt but im sure the outcome will be marginal at best.
I just got back into crafting since the CU hit, been busy with quests, hunting, xp'ing. So i have much to experiment on, but i dont think im to far off. Also hard to tell who is using pre-cu and/or post-cu components. Hard to compare stats atm.

The problem is, DPS can be very misleading. DPS doesn't determine how much damage you do with each attack. Only the max damage rating does. Two weapons can have the exact same damage ratings, but drastically different DPS ratings because one is 0.14 seconds faster (mind you, that's less than two-tenths of a second). What matters is max damage and low SAC, at least if you have a complete, or near complete, template.
So, another smith's 270 DPS weapon could have a higher damage rating than your 305 DPS weapon because that smith put a couple of points into SAC instead of speed. More speed might matter to a developing toon, but to a complete double elite master with skilltapes and FS combat skills, a few tenths of a second of speed might be far less important 7 less SAC.
I think that's one of the nice things about weaponsmithing post CU...there's no longer one best way to make every weapon. Or if there is, at least we haven't found it yet. It keeps things interesting. ![]()

I agree. I think im going to just end up making high dps weapons and then make another run of low sac weapons. My weapons arent bad, i went to several WS shops and looked on bazaar. Hardest part for me having 2 crafting alts and a jedi is i cant test these like i use to. Im not sure if that low SAC is pre-cu stuff or just great craftsmanship by the WS ( which i hope, nothing worse than a bad crafter lol).
I have read a lot of posts about this before i decided to start crafting again. I think my SAC is little high but not to bas. Nothing lik 80-90 SAC. Soi think ill play with low SAC weapons next and see if the damage is somewhat the same.
Joys of crafting sometimes makes you want to quit lol.

I did some experimentation on 2 DL44 XT pistols.
I) ABPH: 15-41 damage -1.92 Speed 0SAC
ABPB: 15-41 damage -1.84 Speed 0SAC
Scope added but stats do not matter
II) ABPH: 15-41 damage -1.20 speed -8SAC
ABPB:15-41 damage -1.19 speed -7SAC
Scope addes stats do not matter.
Weapon combine:
I) 1.95 speed
383-787 damage
300.51 DPS
103 SAC
II) 2.08 Speed
383-787 Damage
281.53 DPS
89 SAC
I could not believe the damage was same, and speed was only -.13 different for a 20 some DPS increase. but SAC is 14 pts lower.I can not believe i didnt do more testing before i did my last batch. I made a newbie mistake that just cost me a few million in resources im sure lol.
SAC is were it is at and thats what im going for from now on. This post opened up my eyes and made me go experiment, something i should have done more of obviously. We learn from our mistakes and that was proven today.
Those stats above we jsut playing around, didnt try for triple amazings, but i get the picture now.
