Thread: How much does Resource Quality actually matter

Hello. I currently hit master WS just a few nights ago. I am in on the long journy to hunt down the resources that I need. What I just need to know from all you older and wiser MWS's :: What is the cut off point for Resource Quality?

I know that anything under 900 is useless pretty much, unless the resource is capped at a certain thing. I know with the new Resource Enhancer thingyduring your crafting helps determin what to use, but what should I even be looking for. Nothing below 900?...940?..960?...I have been finding most resources on average, at 960. I am just wondering if I should grab these for now untill something shifts in? Or is it not even worth it. Comparing 940 to 990, how far behind am I going to be from the more advanced WS's?

I currently do not have the cash flow to be picking up every resource out there to be experimenting on this. This is why I am asking the more experienced WS's about this, because Im sure you have ran into this problem also. If you can help in anyway, it is most appreciated. If you have any questions or clearifications, I will be checking back to the WS boards alot

-- I tried to make this clear to read and not have it all in 1 big run-on paragraph, hehe. Thanks again.

i just made master ws last might with my alt but i do have a few credits ro spare for expirmenting with recources. to me it looks like anything over 950 doesn't really help all that much. i would certainly use the highest possible resource i can get but i'm not going to wait to get that extra 40 quality if there's 950 available.

P.S.

i wouldn't craft limited use weapons with anything less then 980 though, for peace of mind if not anything else.

Get the best you can find without spending a bazillion credits, from there always make sure you stay on top of whats available to harvest, there will always be something come along thats just as good if not better than what you have now

Resources are everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. It will take time to build a suitable base. But harvest everything that you can, and then search for better and research more. Realize it will take awhile to build a great base. I have been a MWS since like mid-march and just now can say I have a great resource base. it is a job. Wish I knew the caps on stats. and there is a post with that somewhere. But I cant understand the thing, and I need it broken out for jsut WS. Something to take whenever you see it:

Rhodium Steel COND/SR is important 66/33%

Green Diamond Crystalline Gemstone OQ 100%

Diatanium Steel OQ/COND 50/50 for guns UT 100% for cores

Polonium Iron OQ/COND 50/50

Kammaris Iron SR 100% for melee, COND/OQ for guns 50/50

Thoranium Steel MINES for turrets. NOt sure on the important qualities

Dolovite Iron UT 100% cores

Diatanium copper COND/OQ Enhanced E11, ADV Power Handlers

What else guys? I know this is the rare list for Tarquinas pretty much...

Resource quality is EVERYTHING (as noted above) as resource quality determines the maximum level you can bring a weapon to.

If you're aiming to be a galaxy class smith, it's all about working your butt off to get the right resources. This can take months to do depending on how broad a line of weapons you plan to carry and how the spawns work in your galaxy.

Another thing to consider is buying second tier resources from existing smiths. I regularly cleared out my stockpile and found materials that were second class laying around that I wanted to sell... materials that made weapons only 2 or 3 points less on damage or 0.1 more on speed than my best. Sometimes you can find these on the bazaar or on vendors as well.

I recommend going to SWG Craft (http://www.swgcraft.com) and looking under "find resources" on the left menu. Enter your galaxy and do some searches to find the names of the best spawns on your server and how recent they are. This'll give you some names to look for.

Best of luck,

Teev.

Knowing resource caps made all the difference to me, not sure if the other link referred to this post, but this is by far the best link for resource caps that i have found : http://www.swgcraft.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9957
