I'm in artisan (Eng. II but close to Eng. III
working to become a weaponsmith. While I make lots of new items trying to get there I thought I'd like to make things I'll need later. So, could someone tell me what the components neede in weaponsmithing are?
I'd guess I'll need all the various power-ups as components, but I thought I'd check to make sure.
I've made a ton of muzzles and grips already.

Hail Friends!
Novice weaponsmith here, with fire arms 1. I didnt really notice anything that will healp the weaponsmithing xp that you could make in regular crafting. What i do is find the item that uses the most resources and try to make that, as it gives you more xp and wastes a lot less space.
also of note, if you havent noticed, you get more xp when people use your item. The amount seems to go up with the skill level of item you create. The D-18s i made as novice seemed to net me around 150 xp after i got done making them, and the DH-44 has netter me 320 so far, and i logged before i could test any more.

Whatwere you making to hit firearms so quickly? Plus, if you were making d18, don't you need to also make the 3 components that are required to build a d18? So if you have to build those 3 extra components, doesn't that just add up the time to actually make a d18? Also, even if I want to mass product d18, i would have to make tons of components and that will just limit my space to actually make a d18. I dunno, i just find it very annoying to have tobuild 3 extra components and click on on like 10 different resources just to build the d18 to gain ~155xp,. I rather build 1 component and passproduce it, get 60xpeach... Much quicker. But I dunno how you gained to firearms1 so fast. Tell me what you did..

If a schematic calls for a Blaster Power Handler, or a Weapon Stock, can you use an Advanced Blaster Power hanlder, or an advanced stock?

The component for a blade vibro unit is a "Finely Tuned Vibor Motor", and can be looted off Nym's NPC's on Lok.

However that only works for weapons that use a vibro blade unit (vk's, vibro axes, vibro lances, lva's, vibro blades).
You can use rancor teeth instead of sword cores to make swords, however most rancor teeth are not better than the cores made by weaponsmiths.
You can use Acklay bones in a power hammer. These are a rare loot on the Acklay in the Geonosian caves.
You can also use Geonosian Swords and Reinforcement cores in some of our weapons although it can be difficult finding cores good enough to be used. You can also use special components (like yellow power cubes and Geonosian Solidifying Agent) to make components for your swords and hammers.

He asked HOW to use it, not what weapons they're used in.
You have to take the components to a Weaponsmith. When they craft the weapon, they can add in the looted components.

st gabe about the acklay bones can we check if theres anyone good ones about, i'm mangaed to kill the acklay now 3 times and got bones each time but there were only 65/65 which are no better than weaponsmith crafted cores. Just wondering whats the point of me battleing own there tanking and ressing for my group when in the end the loot is of no real use to me. although i do love th echallange of it i see all thes uber acklay bone hammers from other servers and the only semi decent one we got on ours(farstar) was from pre nerf bones that were 65/157 I think.

The quality of the components are extremely important to the final stats ofthe weapon you are crafting. You need to get the best resources possible (with the highest attributes in the proper experimentation stats) in order to get the best results on your components. The finished component will tell you what stats it will effect on the final weapon (i.e. a blaster pistol barrel with a speed rating or -0.3 will take .3 off the base speed of the pistol, etc.)
