Thread: Weapon Choice with Mitigation
I made up a spread sheet with my weapon specs to help you judge which weapons would be better after mitigation.

To make sense of this you must first understand the basics of Armor Piercing. If your target is Vulnerable to your damage type (ie energy) Armor Piercing is ignored. If your target has Resistance to your type your damage type Armor Piercing has an effect. I know it sounds backwards, but that is how the game works as I write this. It will probably change by the time they finish the combat tweaks they are working on. An unarmored player is considered Vulnerable to everything, so Armor Piercing is ignored for them. The numbers in red ignore Armor Piercing.
For those who don't understand the chart, he is some basic analysis of the chart. Please don't take my analysis as gospel; there are many factors to include depending on your play style. It is an attempt to get you started on drawing your own conclusions.
Carbines without mitigation:
The Laser Carbine has the best Average Damage at 158, but when you factor in speed without AP the DH17 is best with 58. With AP the Laser wins out again.
Carbines with 60% Mitigation:
You might want to consider the Elite or Dxr6 for AP1.
Rifles without Mitigation:
The Spray Stick is a situational weapon for when your target is chewing on your butt. A Master Rifleman loses the Spray Sticks speed to the speed cap. At anything more than point blank the Dlt20 has the best DPS without AP, except for Masters maxed on speed that use the Laser all the time. With AP the Laser wins out for novices too.
Rifles with Mitigation:
If you are less than Master and can take advantage of AP use the E11. Masters are better with the Tunsken for low or no armor, with the Laser for AP on heavier armor.
Pistols:
The Ham and Range of Pistols are all over the place. Look at the chart and come to your own conclusions. Up until now I have been using a Pre-Nerf Fwg5. After looking at this chart I will open with a Republic at Max Range and switch to a Scout for the lower action cost for anything closer. If I am buffed on action, I'll use a Dh17 instead of the Scout.
