I just looted a weapon assembly skill tape that was +4, and I was really excited because I thought it was pretty uber. Then my friend told me that weapon experimentation is where it's at, and weapons assembly wasn't worth very much.

I'm nota weaponsmith, but I was wondering what weapon assembly does compared to weapon experimentation, and how much woulda +4 assembly tape be worth?

I imagine most Weaponsmiths wouldn't even bother to waste an available socket on it, considering available slots for SEAs are limited.

I'd say maybe 50k, tops.

Start auction at the trade forums. I saw +5 assembly tape go for 100k not too long ago.
