Thread: Looking for a suggestion on my priceing formula
Prices vary greatly between servers, and sometimes even within servers. It is NOT POSSIBLE to create a formula that actually works. Go look at other weaponsmiths and price your wares accordingly.
If your stats are equal, price the same. If your weapons are better, charge more, if yours are worse, charge less.
Price according to what the market will bare.
People are friendly with you because they want something and they want it cheap.
Visit other Vendors and check pricing.
Do not under sell
Howdy;
As to never use a formula - disagree. I use Hit Points Per Second Squared and round UP for ranged weapons and Down for hand weapons. Also have a Min and Max Price Cap dependent on resources used to make the weapons.
Having 25 FWG's in vendor all for $8K or some such just puts a lot of work into buying one since the folks have to poke thru all of them to see what they want.
I do mention that the Faster ones will always come out a little higher than the heavy hitters using the above formula - so buyer beware. That $6K FWG MAY be the one you want if speed isnt really a concern <grin>. For wanderhome this seems to keep it somewhere along the lines of good prices. Only real problem is the melee weapons. They tend to bang into the Max Resource Price Cap alot <shrug>. Especially those knuckles - very easy to hit the $5K max.
*EDIT* Ignore the stupid math error that was once posted in this location *EDIT*

Hi fellow wepS i'm a smithy off of the shadowfire server and i was wondering if my prices were too high or too low and if the formula i use to price them was ok or off anyways this is what i use pls let me know what u think
(MAX DMG x 100) - (SPD x 1000)
EXP. FWG5 MAX DMG 200 SPD 2,5
(200 x 100) - ( 2.5 x 1000) =
20000 - 2500 = $17500
THANK U FOR UR IMPUT AND GL TO U ALL FELLOW CRAFTERS =]

Jennai is exactly right in that there is too much variance from server to server, but I can tell you that in some cases, your formula will end up being out of whack. One major problem I see is that it doesn't take into account the amount of resources used to make a weapon. For instance, use the following 3 weapons in your formula (just using extremely general stats here)
1) Light Lightning Cannon 700 max 4.5 speed = 65,500 credits
2) Heavy Particle Beam Cannon - 3000 max 6.0 speed = 294,000 credits
3) T21 Rifle - 350 max 7.5 speed = 27,500 credits
T21s take the most resources to make out of the 3, and would be priced the lowest of the guns, which seems very out of whack to me.
Take a day and visit some master weaponsmiths on as many planets as you can. Check the stats and prices. I actually made a spreadsheet to track the top ten masters on my server. I then added my weapons and sorted by weapon/Damage Per Second. Are yours the same as the rest? Price yours the same or maybe a touch less if you feel so inclined. Are yours better? You can get away with charging more. Advertise as much as possible (put your lower quality on the bazaar with a message and WP to your vendor) and see what sells. People will travel around looking for the best zap for the buck so to speak and if you want to make money you need to provide a good product for a fair price.
Another thing I do is put my name and the stats on all my weapons. i.e. Skor T21 Rifle 165-396d 7.6s, Skor Republic Blaster 67-203d 2.6s. That way anyone can tell if my weapons are sliced by comparing the examine stats to the name.
I would suggest go 10k on all ranged weapons, except for T21 which you need to price a bit higher. More like 25-30k due to amount of resources it takes.
Elite Carbine you could do between 15-20k
Other wise, the rest could do approx 10k and still be okay. Unless you are buysing resources @ 100cpu a pop.
If there are a lot of the same weapons for sale, I tend to use about the sme price as other similar quality weapons.
But..if there are none(since I think I am one of the few WS left on Bria-Tatooine)...
I count up the resources used
I mulitply that value by the level you need to craft it... x5 for Novice, x10 for Level 1, x15 for Level 2, x20 for Level 3, x25 for Level 4 and x50 for Master.
I then add the prices of the sub-components(they use the same pricing rules)
then to account for quality, I add (Condition+Min+Max)/Speed to the price.
