what you have is a nice decoration. the schem will make regular cores.

Here's some speculation for you: The (exceptional) is meaningless. Some looted items end up with it, but when these items have no stats it doesn't mean a thing. There have been cases of (exceptional) rebel transmissions, and I personally have looted (exceptional) heavy clasps. Doesn't make the slightest bit of difference, it's just an artifact of the way the loot system works.
