Well they rolled out the TC patches today and the results are in:

"Fixed crafting manufacture schematic UI limit to go up to 1000"

For those that accused us of exploiting, cheating, and everything else:

you caneat the dingle berries off my ass! (joking)

Looks like it was the slider that was broken all along

did't Q3P0 say the 1000 untis was a bug and it was never meant to go above 100?

IMO 100 would be a waste. Only making 4 crates of power handlers at a time, or making 10 crates of powerups. That would have been enough for me to drop the profession, because of the waste of time it would be

It was originally intended to be 100 items, the devs said so many times. I would consider anyone who bumped it higher to be an exploiter, although it is a really crappy bug, and it wasn't fixed for a long time, and that 100 is too low a number. But nevertheless, it was still meant to be 100, confirmed by the devs and could go higher only due to a bug.

However, when they finally announced they were fixing it, people were so used to using it that everyone screamed bloody murder. As a result, the devs agreed to officially change it to 1000.

This is how I understand it happened.

You’re wrong. If you ever tried to manually enter a number on the schematic higher than 1000, you get an error message that states "the maximum schematic size is 1000".

The dev who made that statement was wrong. The intention was for schematics to be able to reach 1000. It’s the slider that has been bugged all this time.

It may be the case that different programmers were working to different instructions. That one person set the limit to 1000, whereas someone else built the slider to 100. But from the error message its obvious that at one time or another during development, the limit was intended to be 1000.

Personally, I’m glad the finally fixed it.

Actually, if you typed anything over 100 (except 1000) it would truncate itself to 100. It was meant to be 100. It was fixed to go to 100. People whined. Now it can officially go to 1000 without using an exploit.

It defaulted to 100 because the slider was broke.

How is making 1000 schematics hurting anyone? Are you as a weapion smith complaining because you can make 1000 things instead of 100? Don't you see it as a waste to only have it as 100? Factories are supposed to mass produce, and IMO 100 units isn't mass production. This is one fix I can't see anyone ever complaining about, espicially a weaponsmith,

I had many factory problems when I was making 1000 schematics, and CSR's not once warned me of exploiting a game bug. I think there was 2 weeks in a row wher ei had CSRs at my factory's every other day helping me resolve issues. THey never said "If we catch you using the 1000 item factory exploit you will be warned then possibly banzored. No because it wasn't a big deal.

Slider was never broke, it was the numerical entry that was broke.

they wanted to set it 100, but enough people complained and now the slider and entry field support 1000

it was an exploit, since it wasnt as designed.

the error message that replied when you put in 10000 clearly said to enter a number in between 1 and 1000. this is not a variable lookup, this a manual string of text typed in by a human. If 1000 was not achievable then PA halls could not have even been constructable until after the first major patch 1 month later. For the first month of the game PA halls required 122 identical wall modules. Now they just need similar walls not identical. As far as your argument that you cant enter any other number between 100 and 1000 you must just be inept because i have made plenty of 200 item schematics you just delete the zero first, same UI bug that was plaguing harvester maintenance for a while. But the key trigger is the manually coded piece of text. This indicates that at some point in time, not only was the code written to accept 1000 but whoever wrote the error message also understood this to be the case as well. The patch notes didnt say "Increased UI schematic limit to 1000" it said FIXED. Therefore, internally there was a debate on which was broken, the UI or the code and after a long debate and user input, it was decided the slider was broken. FIXED means it WAS broken. Previous patch note had the code as being FIXED. Now its the slider thats FIXED.I smell more internal arguing on the issue than your willing to concede.

My guess is at some point a change happened in beta and one aspect was changed and not the other. It is a good thing howerver, since PA halls would have been unbuildable and until THIS patch stimpack E's would not have been factory buildable since accidentally required 13 identical items instead of 3 and thereby limiting mass production to a whole SEVEN stimpacks. Limiting a schematic to 100 (on the surface) looks fine but when you keep the same limit on subcomponents where many many subcomponents are required, and required to be idenical, you run into this problem over and over. Is 9 T-21's mass producing? thats all you can make out of your factory in a single crate. But the bottom line is, it was never an exploit and if you still think whoever used it before exploited then go burn your **edit** PA hall to the ground and then convince your guild it was for the better good of not supporting an exploit. I dont think you'd get much support from them on that issue. Maybe it was bugged before, maybe the devs wanted final product to be limited to 100 and not components and just couldnt figure out how to do that w/o extra DB lookups. But one thing is for certain, I ASKED a CSR who showed up to fix a different ticket (imagine that, i got help). I asked if the 1000 schematic thing was a bug and he said it part of GAME DESIGN. He also said those colors are part of game design too, incase anyone wanted to know.

People need to stop whining and squealing about, "Oh! Its an exploit! I hate people that exploit this!"

Fact is, if it weren't for 1000 limit schematics, the price to make/sell weapons would be MUCH higher, driving the final cost up too. This doesn't mean WS would be richer by any means. It just means that we would have that much LESS time to actually adventure and enjoy the game. So instead of people crying all day long about it, just be glad the devs "fixed the slider" and be done with it.

I'm sure there are plenty of other dead horses out there for some of you to beat.

Hrm, so you personally know this Dev? How do you know the Dev is wrong and you are right?

And, the error is 'enter a number between 1 and 1000'. But if you enter 500, which is between 1 and 1000, it reverts to 100. So how could it be anything but a typo in the error message? The slider was correct...

because your an inept idiot, ive made 200 and 500 schematics before, unlike you i know how to delete a zero first. Im tired of repeating myself

This is funny...

"Fixed crafting manufacture schematic UI limit to go up to 1000"

This indicated that the UI was bugged. UI = User Interface... you FIX bugs...

Big software is usually written in several layers. The UI is the topmost layer for you. Usually the UI should not enforce to many rules. But in this case the UI enforced a wrong rule. The ability of the schematic to hold 1000 units indicates that the object which should enforce rules for itself. There are more then one development teams and often they dont comunicate to well....

Well... You ppl need to be more carefull with what you call an exploit... I bet you also cried since some characters which where made in the very beginning of the game had 3 Newbee Mellons! Get a life....

But again, you are getting around the check but deleting the zero first. And yes I did know this could be done, so there is no need for senseless name calling. All it does is prove how much of a juvenille you are.

As I stated previous, if the intent was to allow 1000 units and the error message is proof of that, then you should have be able to just type in 500. But you couldn't. You had to get around the UI by deleting or adding to an existing number.

But this is all moot, as the issue has been addressed and Devs seem to have no plans to state one way or the other if 1000 or 100 was the intended limit.
