Thread: How would you react to this?

I got an e-mail from someone wanting their money back on a weapon. Seems they had paid 1.5 mil or so for one of my guns. When he gets to looking at it, he realizes it has a powerup on it and he wouldn't have paid that much for it if he had known that. Only problem is that I didn't sell it like that. I tell the guy to go back to the person he bought it from because I wouldn't sell weapons like that. Now I knew someone was doing this with my weapons. The joker had bought a bunch of my stuff one weekend. I was doing a global vendor search one day and lo and behold I find all these guns on his vendor with powerups on them going for 1-2 mil each. I didn't think anyone would actually buy them. Now I wonder if I should worry about getting a bad rep from something another player is doing. I haven't heard back from the guy who e-mailed me, so I don't know how it turned out with him. What would you guys do?

I had exactly the same problem recently. I shop banned the reseller immediately (the only person I have EVER banned from my shop), they were doing the exact same as happened to you. It's unfortunate for the end-user and, as a gesture of goodwill, you might wish to reach an agreement with him and remind him that buying direct from the crafter is always the cheapest way.

Resellers aren't a problem per se, infact that's what a Master Merchant is supposed to do. The problem is the misrepresentation of items by powering them up and selling them as 'ub3r 1337' weapons for ten times what they can be bought for directly. That's not reasonable, it's leeching.

I have never not bought a gun back from a customer that bought it from _my_ vendor by mistake. I have some flamers posted at 999999, someone bought it and thought it was 100k not 1mil. I took it back. You are talking about someone buying a gun then looking at who made it and asking for a refund. No way are you responsible for that, stuff gets bought and resold all the time, you have no control over it. If he insists on saying he got it from you, tell him to forward the vendor e-mail and that will shut him up. His beef is with the vendor that bought yours, puped it and resold it. And yes, I would give a stiff warning to the guy reselling telling him what happened and shop ban him if he does it again.

The guy won't care.
He will move on to another supplier. Obviously he is doing this to rip people off. I bet he spams in newbie cities as well

The guy who bought the gun didn't react angrily. I explained what happened and he just sent an e-mail back saying "Ok". Part of me wants to expose the reseller (BTW, he's a WS too) on the forums. But after I had banned him from my shop, he sent a couple of less than friendly messages back to me. I don't really want to start a food fight with someone who obviously doesn't mind ripping people off. But it bothers me that he's using my weapons to do it.

Well i for one consider all that sell power uped weapons from a vendor without listing that fact in the vendor name for : a) sharlatans, b) svindlers,c) scoundrals. Take ur pick. They do this trying to make their product look better and many an unexperienced player ends up buying overpriced crap as a consequence.......

What happened here is NOT ur fault, and listing the bastards name here would only be fitting as a punisment for trying to fool other players out oftheir hard earned credits..Nemis

Exactly. Take it your galaxy's trade forum. Let your community know that this other WS is ripping people off. It may not stop the guy, but it will at leastget the word out so people know to look out for it.
