I just respecced from MBH/Master Carbs to M-Artisan/MWS/MMerchant (Yes, that's not a typo. I really did go from MBH to a crafter 
), and I was wondering 1. Where do I start? and 2. What're the moneymakers right now as far as weapons go? I would imagine rifles, as they seem to be a really popular template right now. What kind of resources should I be buying, and how many credits is it going to cost for me to become a "name brand" (I shudder to use the term, but you know what I mean) type crafter on my server? Thanks all, long time player, first time crafter.

First, welcome in the profession.
Well...First thing to do is get all the ressource you will need to craft weapons, in the best quality possible. For all the ressource you'll need, well, look at sticky in this forum, and try www.swgcraft.com You have a lot of work.
Second, if you want to be one the top WS on your server, get +20 weapon experiment in CA
As for Cost and time...well, you'll be lucky if you have all quality ressources you need in 3 month and for 30mio. I think you'll need more time, and maybe more money.
For best selling weapons, try those:
HC scatter pistol
DL44 XT
E11 mark2 carbine
Advanced laser rifle
And be patient, my friend, cause it's a looooong way to sucess

I've been doing well with rifles, 2 versions each of Advanced Lasers and T21's. Sell the lasers for 40k per and T21's for 60K per. Took in 10 mill this week just on those rifles. Didn't make 1 mill in all other weapon sales combined. Also do well selling high end enhanced weapons.
