One thing to watch out for though, is that the looted ones don't offer PB or MAX range bonuses, which means that swordsman will suffer a penalty at anything but ideal range. Also, if you're using them to make scythes, I'm not even sure if the ideal range mod does anything, since ideal is 6m and max is 5m. And the last thing swordsmen want is another weapon that never hits anything.

I haven't seen many looted ones that are better than those that can be crafted. The best max I have seen on a loot was 59. Most by far are below 30. My best max on a crafted one was 70. Used it to make a scythe that was 196-348.

Did you use +25 Solidifying Agents, and +20 cubes on that 70 one?
Because, like I said, the steel itself is capped off around 715 or 725 or so on UT, and I used +10 yellows, and + solidifying agents

I got : 45 - 55 AS -0.49 (using yellow cube + solidifying agents)
UT 703 neutronium (I checked SWGcraft, and it seems to be capped off at around 715 UT)

ya that seems to be about the cap for them... using 713 UT i get a base 35/35 -0.49 (before cube/agent bonuses)

well, it looks like crafting geno sword cores is a waste of time.
Looted ones are *FAR* better (well, most are).
And even if you get the "vanilla" 25/25 sword cores, those usually come in a set of seven (allowing you to pull 3 uses out of the 2 use schematic through a factory run)
