I have been mining Oderis Bicorbantium steel (Chimeara) as it has better average con/oq than i have, which is caipav.
The Oderis steel has 818con, 886OQ with the 50/50 split it has a value of 853.
The caipav steel has 603 con 959OQ, value of 781
I decided to test out this new steel and the result that i got i find puzzling.I craftedone DL44XT using the caipav andanother usingOderis. Both DL44XTs used identical components. The box which called for metal i used quadian copper (932con, 978 OQ)
Both DL44XT had a great assembly success and the stats were as follows before any experimentation
266-672 damage
2.27spd
92sac
I can experiment upto 96% on each pistol with exactly the same stats
The thing i find puzzling is that i am clearly using a better resource (Oderis) but still get the same results as using the Caipav. I did think whether the 650 steelconductivity cap was still in place, however if this was the case then the Oderis would be slightly worse than the caipav.
Comments and suggestions plz

on my server the 908 con steel i use does make a differance so i dont think theres a hard cap... however some resources for me seem not to imporve weap ststa. Such as my resource deed polonium (comes out the same as the garbage i was using before) and one type of steel that also had better stats actually made worse guns.

Same thing happened on my server. Here is the general lowdown..
Steel has a relative Cap of 650, but from my experience it is a tad bit higher than that. There definately is NOT a 1000CD cap on steel when it comes to crafting. The thing throwing things off is your 800+ CD isn't counted as 300 more than the other, more like 50-75 more.

Since JTL usually breaks the CD cap, calculate like this:
603/650=.927
(.927 + .959) / 2 = .943
JTL Steel:
818/650 > 1 so, it is 1.
(1 + .886) / 2 = .943
So, yes they are very similar indeed.

There is definately a cap on conductivity. Ive tested a few different items there.
But have a look at Ihahik Hardened Arveshium Merv. Its on naboo atm. It is better than caipav.

Many thanks. That explains it for me. Much appreciated.
CorinDWR: Thanks for the info have some extractors already down on that stuff but lifted them for this bicorbantium steel, may have to put them back down again lol

In my experience, if it calls for "steel" I use my best duralloy. If it calls for "ferrous metal" I use the JTL steel.
I think your calculations are a little off though, I believe it works like this:
JTL steel hits the CD cap at 650 so here how I figure it.
JTL: (886/2)+(650/2)=767
Duralloy: (959/2)+(603/2)=781
Clearly the duralloy is 14pts better, although, the situation would be reversed if the schematic called for a "ferrous metal".
