Thread: Is it better to slice your own?

I'm only a novice WS (only have about 1k WS xp....grind is killing me and my bank account), but I was wondering I I should at least get slicing IV or if anything go ahead and get Master smuggler. I'm still working on Master Artisan too, but surveying sucks.

Or should I get in good relations with a Master smuggler and give him something like a commision (whenever I get to the lvl where I can do that?).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've never messed around much with sliced weapons, but that's a personal choice. I don't like the idea of throwing away a bunch of weapons because they got crappy slices just to sell the one that comes out well. I also don't have the skillpoints since I need a combat profession as well.

If you're going to do it though, don't just get Slicing IV. Get master Smuggler. Even though it's not listed, masters do get a bonus to slicing, which means that slicing IV will cap out at 25-30%, instead of the 35% possible at master.

Personally, if i see a really high quality weapon that isnt sliced, id buy that over the sliced weapons, because id like to take the chance on getting a 32% damage slice on my own, instead of buy a weapon that might of had a 20-28% slice...

Two answers to this IMO. One for Pre-CU and one for Post-CU, both with the same conclusion.

1) Pre-CU: don't do it because combatants like me will buy multiple of the same weapon to make surewe get the slicewe want, then toss the rest on the bazaar.

2) Post-CU: don't do it because Slicing will be more specific, so us Combatants can choose the type of slice we want rather thanbeing dependenton luck.

The only reason to do so is if you want to take the chance for the big pay off. That risk is entirely up to you.

slicing isnt all a random check....you just have to know how to play your cards..and you will be satisfied

It would depend on your target buyer. If your making weapons for new players, slice them. The higher stats will be an immediate benefit for them when they are low on cash.Higher end weapons should be left up to the buyer.

Im a master ws / master smuggler...And personally i like being able to slice my own weapons..I keep about 10-15 unsliced of anything people want. The rest i slice up and look for nice damage/speed slices. The good ones i put up for one price, and the others for a lower price. But it's nice if you make enchanced stuff...like acklay/geo PHs and stuff.
