I was just reading a thread where one guy was auctioning off platinite copper and others were debating whether it was worth his price, since a good kelsh copper had recently appeared.

Now, I'm not a weaponsmith or crafter of any kind, but I do quite a bit of mining. I'm wondering why they are debating the value of a kelsh when the offer is platinite. I mean, platinite is specifically used in advanced vibro blade units and can't be substituted, yes? So, why are they talking about other copper types? Is it because both can also be used as a 'metal' component of a schematic, and hence type doesn't matter, just raw stats?

Please excuse my naivete, as I said, I've never had to wrestle with schematic issues.

Platinite is also used in dx2's and dxr6's and can't be substituted, but copper,or metel, is found in almost every gun schematic, so high cond/OQ copper of any kind is a good thing to have, that's probably what they were talking about.

hehe I saw it to and thought **edit** myself, problem is that the copper may be very good for platinite but only masters will know about that etc seeing as the master certs are the main ones that use it.

The main prob is that everyone is having it that it is copper, and recently we have had some high conductivity/SR etc copper in excess of 950 stats.

The advertised however from memory peaks at 880 which is normally a very average level. Also platinite isn't uncommon like link-steel al or plumbum (and a host of others that sapwn infrequently).

yes it is used in an advanced schem and you cant use kelsh etc, but most ppl dont make melee weapons and platinite is not rare. I hate this board you hit one key and it can post before you want it to .

hehe well that is a bugger to answer the big ones that I know of are irrolun, link-steel & plumbum of which there have all been plenty of spawns. Here's a list of required resources some are obviously not so rare afaik (on valcyn) some have spawned recently and some I haven't been looking for to my detriment (meh I do my best but there is a way too much to track for one person with a limited budget).Also a metal with High OQ and conductivity is very much needed as 53 of schematics require a metal with a 50/50 weighting (add em both together and if it goes over 1700 you got yourself a seriously valuable commodity) if its slanted towards cond even better as a few more schems have a 66/33 rating (cond/OQ). there is a high probablity of this magical metal being copper too !
