Thread: Charged Heavies and components
I just made as an 0/4/0/3 Weaponsmith a series of Heavy Particle Beam Cannons ranging from 1700-2300 to 1980-2880 based SOLELY on final combine quality and experiment. I used basic PHs and barrels.Would I be right in thinking that they only get better SIGNIFICANTLY based on experimentation and resources/combine, or is there some ubermultiplier on the damage/speed of the PH and barrel components?
Assuming I am understanding your post correctly:
Both your Blaster Power-handler and barrel have stats they add to your weapon.
The better resources you have for these components, the better you can experiment, the better stats these components have and thus, more damage being added to your final product.
Same goes for the weapon itself. In the specific case of HPBCs, however, you are right. Using like, 2 5 handlers over 9 18 handlers is going to make nil difference in terms of damage. It's a weapon with damage already nearing 3k, so 10 points of damage is not going to make or break the weapon.
However, what it will affect is speed.Since speed is not a huge number, you can easily knock off a couple points of speed with good, experimented components. Otherwise, in terms of damage alone, the only way to make a huge difference is with better resources and experimentation on the final product itself. Your components add no special hiddenmultiplier, they just add the exact stats that are listed on them.

Groovy, thanks
*laughs at the thought of a Krayt HPBC*
I would think a Krayt HPBC would be a huge waste. It would take a minimum 5 krayt and you'd get 30-34 shots at most.
Throw those puppies into something more useful and long-term.
One other thing, don't worry about using Advanced Power Handlers. The dmg is slightly more but the speed takes a hit. When you're dealing with HPBC that are master made, you're going to get at least 3k dmg. An extra 20-30 dmg doens't mean squat, but .1 or .2 speed might.
