Thread: Please stop calling for Resource Nerfing!

It seems every day or so, a user raises the issue of rare resources, and how hard it is to be a Weaponsmith because they dont have Dolovite Iron or Ostrine Carbonate Ore. I hope and pray that the devs do not listen to you.

If you dont like collecting resources, then Weaponsmithing is not for you. There is no effort in running factories, or clicking the little buttons on your crafting tool, the way to be a better weaponsmith is to get resources. If you dont have the resources, or dont know what they are, where they are used or when they will spawn, then you will not be a good weaponsmith. Allow 8-12 weeks to collect enough good resources to be a good smith.

Yes, so Plumbum has poor conductivity. You know what? It has poor conductivity for all smiths on your server. It always has conductivity under 100. Calling for a major Nerf of all the schematics because your Iron never has CD more than 600 or because your Rhodium Steel is poor, is wrong, wrong wrong! If we take it far enough, then there will be 1 ingredient for everything, and it will be 100% spawn across every planet.

Get organised, learn everything about the resources, and be prepared to wait.

I agree for the most part but when the quality of resources make a significant amount of the weapons we make useless then there is a problem

For example the most carbineers will not use the Elite carbine, this gun is severely hampered by the inherent quality of the resources it requires, this is that profession's exclusive weapon and should be something to make the profession stand out much like the T21 for rifleman or the flamethrower for commando

I mean there are only about15 weapons that we can make out of 63 I think that have any application in the game

I would like to see all of our weapons have a useful purpose

Infact I am amazed that some rare resourses spawn on so many planets at once. I always thought it would be hidden in some corner of Dathomir or something. I mean it us suppose to be rare. When you think of itweapons should mostly be made with regular parts and the rare lucky ws who gets his hands on therare stuff can make a few really good guns. It is an equal playing field for all wether or not the resourse is crap or not.

I agree total that "I would like to see all of our weapons have a useful purpose". But making Elite Carbines not use Polonium Iron is not the answer.

The answer is to look at the the experimentation changes which were on Test Center, but were howled down. This change was a good change, but because we didnt understand it, we feared it. Lets look at what the Patch Notes said :

  • Fixed experimentation formula to use the correct range when determining how much an item attribute changes. The formula was supposed to be based on the resource max range, but was using the entire attribute range. A crit success experimenting with an attribute can push the attrib over the resource max value, but never over the item max attrib value.

There is the answer! So using Plumbum Iron, the input that it provides for the CD of the formula, will only use the range 0-100 instead of 0-1000. This is the correct response from the DEVs to this resource problem.

We need to look into this change again, without fear. Please dont call for Resource/Schematic nerfing.

If you change Plumbum et al, to have CD 0-1000, you destroy the work of existing smiths who have tracked and collected resources. All current resource stock of these metals would be worthless. This is an enormous impact.

Not even close to the impact made when heavy weapons were revamped. Regardless, it was still done. I saw very, very few honest complaints about the time wasted on those rare resources.

Advantages > Disadvantages. I see nothing but praise if this change were to be made, time wasted on obsolete resources would seem miniscule at the idea that we would have over half of our firearms schematics being made actually worthwhile.

I think the talk of Ressource issues is not unimportant. The solutions several people post here, are not the goal to get, but when i take a look at swgcraft.com and see that several named ressources spawns 80-100 days ago, then i must bump my head on the table, for this ugly shifting. It could not be the right way to wait so many weeks and months for the right shift of ressources i need. Some servers could not craft the T-21 till today, cause needed ressources has never spawn on their server. could this be right ? not really eh ?

its ok to have a look at the ressource shifts, place harvester to get them, and compare the stats with existing ressources, but to wait possiblyweeks/months till next spawn cannot be the right way.

If you desparately want this resource, then find someone who has it stocked and pay them well for it. Don't make it easier to get for everyone. Take your time to get yourself. If it's shifted in before, someone somewhere has what you need.

If it's never shifted in, then you're all the same boat and no one has an advantage over you.

Zuplancer, the answer would be fixing resource shift not changing schematics.

I and I bet most of us don't want the schematics changed. We want better shifting and desent qualities. Not every plumbum should be stelar, I agree but at least some should. The elite carbine stinks because plumbum is awful. Good plumbum should shift in more than........ 0 times in4 months.

I'd like to see everything appear at least once every 3 months and named resources have a better chance to have good stats. That's more of a fix than a "nerf" in my mind.

I hate the term nerf. Nerf is a spongy ball.

i do not want it all to be spoon fed, ya we need to hunt down all our resorces and thats our game really.

BUT, i do expect to be able to market all the guns. due to the poor quality of Plumbum there are several weapons that just never see the light of day.

I lovethe way a SR Combat looks in my hand, but the 2nd something attacks me I swithc to my FWG5 or Scout. cause thier the only ones that get the job done.

No don't take Plumbum off the schem, just make sure it is worth putting in the gun in the first place.

You know why cars don't use copper for body panels? cause it be stupid, it's the wrong material for the needs.

Poor conductivity Iron should of never been designed into a weapon that requires conductivity. Why even bother to deshin the thing if it is craptasic on the drawing board? It would never make it to the light of day.

I pretty much have to agree with Kav and Egan here. I don't mind having to collect rare resources at all, and I'm even willing to accept when some of those rares are poor. But what I do mind is having a list of things that I would never be able to sell even if I had every resource that had ever spawned on my server.

I don't think anyone is crying for the schematics to get nerfed - we just want the things we CAN make to be viable.

I'm interested in your interpretation of the experimentation change - that's one I haven't read before. If that's truly how it worked on TC, I'm surprised that so many people had the wrong idea about it.
