I just wanted to talk to a few of you weathered, crusty old Weaponsmiths to see what your thoughts are on selling Krayt Weapons.
I'm pretty new to weaponsmith. About 2 months now I think, but I've learned quite a lot. I got the job as a holo and once I made it to master,I realized that I enjoyed it so I'm keeping it as my static profession. It's a lot more work than it seems on the surface, and certainly expensive to maintain when you consider the vast amount of different resources we must keep in order to make advanced components. That's cool though. I don't have a problem with that.
The biggest problem I have had is with selling Krayt enhanced guns. It seems that no one can come to a consensus about what they are worth. There is no "standard" for how much a tissues itself sells for, and there is no way to figure out what a krayt enhanced gun is worth. Because of the rotating metals in this game, it's also hard to base a gun price on past history or on the damage a gun can do. A good example of this on my server, Intrepid, right now is that Plumbum Iron sucks. It has multiple stats under 100, and I thnk the UT is under 400. As hard as I try the best enhanced republic I can make is about 204 max damage at 2.1 speed. Krayt Republics seem to be the most popular so I took some +48 tissues I had and made a few Krayt versions. The problem is, what are they worth? I know the price of the tissue (including the schematic) has to be factored in, but after that where do I take the numbers?
Do any of you have a formula that you use for this that seems to make most people happy? I've seen guns sell for 2million + and heard people tell me similar guns were purchased for 100k at "XYZ" vendor. I try to be fair to my customers, but I also know that krayt guns are the big money maker for the Weaponsmith, so I want to charge accordingly. When I buy tissues I'm hearing they there are a lot less around now because of the HAM increases on the new Krayts (I believe that was a good idea, they were too easy to solo before).
I would love to hear some opinions on this subject. I have sat and sment 45 mins several times trying to justify the prices of my krayt guns to those who don't see the advantage they bring. How can I say what a krayt gun is worth when the prices and qualityvary so much from smith to smith?

I gave up on trying to discover an appropriate pricing scheme for krayt weaponry. So - now - I just offer the guns I make up for auction on the Galaxy Trade forum for my server. Works like a charm. I rarely see one of my guns stay up there for more than 24 hrs. You can also surf the forum a bit for pricing ideas to start the bidding.

People charge anywhere from 100k-350k per tissue on Gorath, depending on the damage and speed. If I have good tissues, I charge around 500k per tissue used in the gun and can barely keep the incoming orders filled. I guess it just depends how much cash is floating around your server.

My advice, don't bother trying to justify your prices to anyone. To many people, Krayt weapons will never be worth the money - and that is fine, those are not the people you want to try to sell them to
I have found my best bet is to set a price I think is fair, and put it up on the vendor. Maybe make a post on the boards letting people know some krayt weps areup there if you are not well known on your server yet. Write down your prices - If it doesn't sell, lower the price. If it sells faster than you think it should, bump the price up a little next time. It takes a little time and a few sales, but you will soon find a range where you are comfortable in pricing them.
