I'm wondering what are the pros and cons of slicing Krayt Weapons before you sell them (or I suppose this could go for any weapon). The way I'm thinking, getting the slicing done yourself is just a gamble. If I get a good damage slice, great, I can sell for a lot more, because the customer knows excatly what he is going to get, and doesn't have to buy 4 or 5 weapons to make sure he gets what he wants. On the other hand, if you get a bad slice, or an unwanted speed slice, the value on your weapon could go down, because you can't get another slice after that. (at least you aren't supposed to be able to.) So I'm wondering what people's thoughts on this are as I decide whether to contract with a smuggler. Thanks in advance.

well i factory run all my weapons now. so that i can have them all sliced and place the high damage sliced weapons on my vendor. and the other ones either go in the bazzars or are destroyed if i dont seel them on there first run

Don't slice them.No one will want to pay tissue prices for a weapon that got a crap slice and is barely better than a good slice non-krayt weapon that costs much less.

yup, my business is based on sliced weapons, but it's true that you might lose money if you get a crappy slice, so if you paid alot for the tissues, sell it unsliced, and if you got your tissues urself, then nevermind, go and slice it.

What is so unwanted about a speed slice. Damage per second is what really counts. Thats the number you should be concerned with. Educate your clients and put something in the details. I sell my crafting tools for 1.6K at the bazaar because they are 14.97/15.00 for tool effectiveness. I write a little blurp describing what this means to justify the price. They sell like crazy.

Forgot to mention that, last night I bought a new laser carbine. This vendor had both speed and damage slices on a set of factory run weaps. I found that the DPS was slightly higher on speed slices.

Being a weaponsmith you've probably seen this before but I'll post it just in case.

DPS = (max dmg + min dmg)/2 * 1/speed

Basically the avg damage divided by speed.

i think most people who have mastered an elite profession don't really look at the speed on most weapons, because of their skill mods, as long as the weapon meets a certain standard for speed, they will fire at the same rate. that's why a rifleman can fire almost as quickly as a pistoleer. so they don't want the speed slice. i can't say this for sure myself, but being the weaponsmith, i just tend to try for what the customer wants and says.

That could be true, but there are also a lot of people who have only put the points in to get say HeadShot3 that really should be using a speed sliced rifle rather than damage. Even at Master Rifle you'll need +6-7 rifle speed tapes to hit the speed cap with a 7.x+ T21.

The speed slice is only useful for some weapons early on.

At Master in most professions they actually don't fire based on the weapons "speed" but instead it's speed reduced by their skill. So a pistol with 2.0 speed and 1.3 speed would fire at the same rate based on the Pistol Speed skill. DPS isn't accurate that that point.

And on slicing, don't.

Many people want that 35% damage slice. If your gun has a 28% or 32% they'll still see that 3% as their ultimate goal. Give them an unsliced weapon and they'll have that hope that a slice will go their way. Take it away and they'll either search for a 35% slice or buy unsliced ones in the hope of getting it.

Kinda how you always keep hoping for that slightly better resource you've been praying for to make your T21's not suck or your VK's not a failure.
