Thread: In desperate need of crafting advice!

Hi folks, I just made the grind up to Master weaponsmith using the wonderful combination of the macro and the slacker's guide. Did the entire grind in one evening once the resources were in hand.

Now I'm a master weaponsmith who knows very little about crafting weapons. ButI do know that a good carpenter always measures twice and cuts once. So i'm printing a few stickies and seeking out specific advice from folks who've probably been asked these questions a good 10,000 times. Thanks in advance for your help guys.

First let me sayI hope to craft primarily LLCs, Vibroknucles, Power Hammer's and T21 rifles. These all use a blaster or reinforced core. My plan was to make the cores by the crate but I'm not sure what stats I should be looking for to know it's a quality core. Also with this question I have the option of adding enhancements. Is it possible to add say Krayt tissues then run 1k cores or would I need 1k Krayt tissues? Any suggestions on mass enhancements or is that not even possible or needed?

Secondly my goals are for common weapons like 2.2 speed 147 max dmg vibronkuckles, 5.4 speed 465dmg Hammers and the like. CanI get there as a 10 point smith? ShouldI invest in a 45+ crafting station or will my crafting droid be fine? How should I spend my expermimental points? All at once on specific areas or add a few ro a specific area then try to max it before moving to another area?

Same question as the first pertaining to stock. As a 10 point smith, how doI know ifI have stock worth running a factory schem?

Folks as you can see I'm about as green as one can be. But I'm enthusiastic and really look forward to learning the trade of weaponsmith. I just want to do it right. So asking specific question for me is the best way to get the info I need.

Any added input or advice would be wonderful. I'm combing the stickies and articles now, if anyone has a link that can help that would be great also! Thanks.

basically heres stats you want to hit (at least if you were on radiant, dunno about other servers and feel free to correct me if im wrong peoples)

adv blaster rifle barrels:11/11 dmg .51 speed?

adv vibro units: 20/37 -.?? speed

adv reinforcement core 41/41 -.58 speed

adv blaster power handlers 20/41 -.?? speed

sorry i can't be more clear about stats ...oh and its worthwhile to make schems as a 10 pt smith, 11 and 12 pt only gets slightly better condition, range mods, or HAM costs....as a 10 pt smith you're capable of hitting the same damage and speed as a 12 pt

It may take a while to get all the resources you will want/need. The power handlers can be tough to get all the best resources since some may not have spawned in a long time with good stats. You should be able to turn out good melee weapons.. as soon as you get the ditanium steel to make reinforcment cores you should be pretty set for making power hammers since kammris iron is almost always spawning with decent stats.

Vibro units may take a while to get unless you get lucky with some decent desh and platinite copper.

Getting all the best resources is what seperates the master weaponsmiths from the goodmasterweaponsmiths. It will take a while and some money and work but you should do fine. If your lucky your server will have a few resource providers that will get you the resources you need and not charge you 100 million.

swgcraft may be your best friend for a while good luck

yeah check swgcraft.com for resources....and always check for hardcaps on resources if you aren't sure. Not all resource stats go up to a thousand...desh caps at 400 for instance, so if ya see desh copper with 350 UT, it isnt the crap you may think it is...rhodium caps low too, and theres others but im too lazy and innattentive to list them all....

Hey there.. allow me to just chip in with a few of the proverbial cents here.

I dunno if you've cleared it up, but let me just set a few common misconceptions straight: Krayt tissue is for ranged weaponry only (and not even all ranged accept them as enhancers). So a krayt enhanced VK isn't an option (don't want to sound pedantic, but you seemed like you were a little confused about this point). Anyway...

You asked, if you wanted to make 1k enhanced subs, would you also need 1k enhancers. The answer is yes. So making 1k enhanced subs isn't an option either. Say you get 8 identical krayt tissue... you could make 7 enhancers (as one tissue is lost in making the factory schematic).

Regarding Powerhammers and adv. reinforment cores... well I have two friends, who frequent the Geonosian Cave a lot, so I have Geo cores and yellow cubes/agents up the wazoo.. enabling me to never have to craft an actual core myself. I know this perhaps isn't an option for just anybody, but ask around in Cnet or look up vendors. Getting some good cubes and agents could make you some very nice hammers.

Final advice from here:

  • Watch your server's trade forum. It is essential that you keep up. Make a gamble sometimes, take a buyout on some good tissue, even if it brings your credit total to its knees.. Feel confident that you can make good weapons that will rake in the cash again

  • Make a pricing policy (a steady cpu price for weapons and add creds for custom orders that require you to do factory runs etc).

  • Watch swgcraft.com intently, and make sure you know about current spawns of the resources you need. Get friends and/or guildmates to help you with placing factories and harvesters. The more the merrier, as 10 lots simply isn't enough, if you are wanting to be dedicated.

  • If running a store, keep the vendor stocked at all costs.. Empty vendors = angry customers. Also, whenever people ask you to craft specific stuff, you can just say: Look on my vendor, there are X amount of X weapon on there already Saves you a lot of time. Do a hotkey macro with: "/r Yes, I have that particular weapon on my vendor located at xxxx, xxxx on X planet near X city"

  • Be prepared for a lot of tells

Hope this all helps. Enjoy your new title. WS is the hardest, but also, imo, the most rewarding crafting prof there is.

Thanks for all your help guys. I actually did get lucky with some Desh and Plantanite Copper. Very good stuff and upwards of 50k units of each...

Ditanium steel and the blaster core resources to make ranged weapons seem like a far away dream I couldn't even find a Ditanium spawn on the Corbantis section of SWGCraft.

I've been checking SWGCraftI was hoping to find a printable resource table somewhere so I could have it by my side at all times. But no luck so far. I keep tons of printed stuff with me. Have about have a dozen items here inclunding 3 from this thread. You guys have been great.

I actually started as a Master Smuggler with a resell vendor. I thought I'd save some money and have some fun by crafting the weapons myself. 12 million later and counting, I'm still optimistic about everything but the saving money part

See there pardner, thats were your whole prob lies I would sugest that you check some of the lower level wepons made by established on your server. Then try to craft and reach thir stats. For one that will give you a feel for what works for wepons and it will give you some time to gather nice resurce stock pile.

Now I'm a master weaponsmith who knows very little about crafting weapons. ButI do know that a good carpenter always measures twice and cuts once. The first rule of WS is have the best resurces posible. It can be a long proces, depending on the size of your walet, or if you are lucky a friend my provide some or all of the resources.

First let me sayI hope to craft primarily LLCs, Vibroknucles, Power Hammer's and T21 rifles. These all use a blaster or reinforced core. The stats on the components will depend on the quilty of resurces available on your server. I would sugest that you stick to mele wepaons at first as they are the esiest to get nice resources for. VK's, sowrds and other low level wepons is what got me trough WS school

Secondly my goals are for common weapons like 2.2 speed 147 max dmg vibronkuckles, 5.4 speed 465dmg Hammers and the like. CanI get there as a 10 point smith? Yes those stats are easy to acheave with 10pts if you have the resurces. With 10pts and good resurces you should be able to max out damage experimentation on most wepons.

Same question as the first pertaining to stock. As a 10 point smith, how doI know ifI have stock worth running a factory schem?

My advaice would be to craft and just to get the feel for it. It could be a long while till you get the resurces to compete with the older WS but if you stick with it its rather nice prof.
