I'm having a rough time finding any info about landmines. Does anyone have specific info about what the different landmines do?

I want to order a bunch, but have no clue what to order.

XG mine is simple to make, requires no rare materials, and is light armor piercing, blast damage with good damage output.

DRX mine is harder to make, requires two rare materials, and is heavy armor piercing, blast damage with low damage output. After applying the AP bonus, it ends up with slightly higher damage output than the XG mine, but I don't think it's worth it because they're so much more annoying to make.

Anti-vehicle mine uses the same rare materials as the DRX but is light armor piercing heat damage with very low damage output. Worthless, not worth making. They have NO SPECIAL PROPERTIES against vehicles, it just happens to be named that.

All mines must be placed into a minefield, purchased from a faction recruiter.

So, do the landmines require a Lot like a house or a harvester? Does the minefield require a Lot? Or both or none? Can you place a minefiled anywhere? or only in front of a base? (we get people camping the cloning center, would like to give them a big supprise) I am collecting the resourcesto make several crates now.Any advice would very helpful. Saves me the R&D time =).

One last note, how much damage can you expect?

No lots are required. Just FP to purchase the minefields from the recruiter.

I'm pretty sure the minefields require a lot, otherwise people would just buy them and put them everywhere. If you donate them to a base, that doesn't require a lot.

Before Vehicles came out, I came to the same conclusion. The resources involved were minimal compared to the others and the dmg output was roughly equivalent. At least when price was factored into it, I would recommend those to customers who came asking for the DRX mines.

Now when Vehicles came out, I did do a run of Vehicular Mines and they haven't sold tooo well. At least not as well as I thought they would since vehicles are the new "in" thing.

Correction: minefields do require one lot. They do not, however, require maintenance fees. You can place them on any buildable square of land, as far as I can tell. (I have one in front of my shop.)

Really? They do take a lot? I was not aware of that...

Hmmm... I had several people place them around and they never mentioned that to me.

Thanks for setting me straight.

*grin* If minefields didn't take up a lot, you can bet the surface of every planet would be carpeted from end to end with them. I can imagine the lines of control being defined by the boundaries of opposing faction minefields across every planet. Walking long distances would require about 50 stim packs and crawling along at a snails pace!

On SWG Craft there was a landmine thread and we cam e to the conclusion that the XG mine is the only worthwhile mine, even with Light Armor piercing, it does more damage than the Heavy Armor piercing DXR mine.

I am not sure if this thread was saved before SWG Craft went down, but it was very interesting, lots of good info and calculations.
