Thread: Suggestion to devs on Uber Loot
Add a function that allows crafters to reverse engineer any uber loot item in their given field. Armorsmiths would be able to reversere engineer armor, ws's weapons, etc. And by reverse engineer I mean take a real world object and turn it into a schematic with a max to produce say something like 2. That way when an uber item is looted, players have the choice of keeping either that item, or taking that item to a crafter who can then produce 2 of that item.
This would involve crafters into a field that atm crafters have no use for, and because we have no use for it, because it embodies a competition we can not win (we play with set resources, with set schematics, with set rules) and dev's can type anything they want into the damage and speed fields of the uber weapon drops, we have no use or love for these items.
Reverse engineering is desperately needed in this game. The ability to take a real world item and turn it into a limited schematic would change a great deal about how we play this game, and would involve the crafting community in the farming of these items, instead of alienating us.
And yes, I figure this is probably twice the work to you devs. First off, you not only have to create the stats and properties on these uber weapons, but if the reverse engineering concept was added you'd also have to make schematics for them as well. Twice the work. Then coding in the whole reverse engineering concept. Ouch. But I believe that this approach to the equipment content problem is the best approach. Anyway, its just a suggestion.
