Thread: Speed Experiment?
Well, after a concerted grind effort this weekend, I'm now a Novice Weaponsmith with Int Firearms (and I am so disappointed with the quality of the Scouts I can craft that I'm going to soon grind for some Techniques).
Anyway, when crafting a Scout or a DL44, I see 4 experimentation tracks, Damage, Efficiency, Duribility and Range. Other than Damage I forget what the tracks on the componants are.
My question is, what track to I need to experiment to improve the speed of the weapon? Or do I just need to craft a WUK and use my smuggler skill to slice the sucker?
Thanks!
Damage experimentation improves speed, as well as minimum damage, maximum damage and wounds. Thus, you need at least a great success in order to guarentee speed increases. At least that is what I have observed.
Just to let you know, Efficiency improves (decrease) the HAM costs. Never having played with range or duribility, I can not say with certainty what they do.

Grinding some crafting technique is a good idea. In fact, I would suggest grinding that whole branch of the tree next. It will make a huge difference in the weapons you produce.

I had actually planned to go up the entire techniques tree before getting Int Firearms, but I wanted to see how much usage xp I could get from using a self-crafted Scout Blaster. It wasn't much and I think it capped after a small period of time. ![]()
Luckily, I'm a Smuggler and I get a total of 150xp for every WUK I craft and use myself. That and the swords I was grinding out to get to Slicing III helped make the grind managable...for a level 1 skill that is.

I agree, Plaztan. When I'm in combat I use nothing BUT specials, so the ability to dramatically lower HAM costs on a weapon would be a great selling point, I think.
Heck, you can do it on Scopes, why not on the final combine?
HAM costs cant be lowered that much by experimentation. The trade off for example might be 60pts of max dmg, .8 speed, for lowering the HAM 8 or 9 points. Thats why no one experiments HAM.
Here is an idea. Why dont you go and have fun playing the game instead whininig about how long it is taking you to grind. Why dont they just instantly let you putALL of your steel into one big construction so you can get 400,000 xp with one crafting session. I mean come on you have to be kidding. I agree that grinding is a pain in the ass but dont complain about another class having it easier than the Weapon Smith. I can see it coming already....In one week you will have become a master and then you will be back on the boards complaining about something else. Play the game..make friends..have fun..or else you are really going to be disaponted when you reach master and realize that your journey is over.
