I wanted to get that in before the hoards of shortsighted WS start flooding these baords with whiner posts about the introduction of a system they have been advising the devs to impliment from the very start.
This single patch has included more interesting goodies and fun stuff for WS than we have recieved in a long time. I'm enjoying checking it all out and learning even more about my favorite SWG proffesion. I'm sure it will be enough to keep me going until the next big thing for us, the space patch.
Thank you Devs for listening to what we said and for acting on it.
In case you are wondering what I'm talking about, it's the schematic and component loot drop system. A few months ago they were so close to implimenting a complete item uber loot drop system. It is very cool they listened to us back then and changed to a system that keeps us crafters in the loop.
Back to what I saidin the first paragraph. Yep, its about to start, lol. I was even one of the ones who used to shoot off posts to the devs imploring them to introduce a system like this. I neverrealized what we were setting ourselves up for.
In the next few days every WS in the game is going to be subject to"Tell Hell" like you never dreamed possible. If you have worked hard and built a name for yourself on your sever.... well.....god help you
The old worn out saying, "Becareful what you wish for, you just might get it" will be ringing loud and clear everytimeour chat box goes beep beep beep. We wanted them to need us, we wanted to be in the loop. Well, now they do need us. We made sure we stayed in the loop alright, we tied the damn loop around ourstupid necks!
So although it hasn't started yet, it's a safe bet it will with the next 72 hours. I logged in this morning before work, my tells were 4 time what they usually are, and this is just the begining. Every tell was the same thing.. new schematics...new components...WS required.I got nothing done this morning, not one item was placed on my vendors, not one schematic placed in my factories.
JUST REMEMBER!
We made our own beds with this one. You can flame the devs all you want. but this system is the one we designed ourselves. Yay! for us. Yay! for us dumba$$ weaponsmiths! ROFL!

So we should not benefit from the new loot drops in game. Please think about this seriously. There are perhaps less than 50 weapons in the entire game and some diversity would be refreshing. I find it pretty damn lame that you would just want to rely on the same old same old. New challenges make the game worth playing. Since we're obviously not going to be involved in the harvesting of the "phat lewtz" we damn well better be involved in the creation of it.

And the game becomes even more dependant on loot drops, and camping certain areas for things...
This is going to marginalize the good smiths who dedicate themselves to gathering resources, producing the best base model, unenhanced weapons. Already people are having the new guns made by smiths, and reselling them for over 10x what the smith charged to make it.
Guess we' ll see how this all works out.

Most of these items can't be camp-looted because they are quest items. You complete the quest, you get the schematic or component, quest over. I don't think good smiths will be marginalized, because you still need good resources to make decent versions of the new weapons.
As for people selling the weapons at 10x cost, that's just initial speculation because these weapons are a 'new thing' (remember when mounts came out and CH's were charging a 100K? Within a couple of days that dropped to 20-30K). Once established WS start cranking these weapons out using factory schematics, the prices will drop down to a little above the price of a standard model. This has already started to happen on Corbantis.
Though these loot schematics aren't a perfect solution, I think they're the best compromise we can expect. The combat players drive our economy, and they want something to make all their fighting worthwhile. Until the devs get around to adding substantial content, loot is it. So, either the devs can add more legendary loot drops, thus cutting us out of the process entirely, or the devs can add schematic loot drops, which keeps us in the loop. Given those choices, I'll take loot schematics, thanks.

Hmmm maybe you should read the post again.
I actaully said I am enjoying the new loot drop system and was happy to see it introduced. I think the bit where you are getting cionfused is when I tried to head off the chronicdev bashersby reminding them it is us who requested this system.

My apologies.
My perception of the post was that you didnt want these items because they would become a major inconvenience.

I have to disagree. These quests are so terribly farmable. What's stopping anyone from buying another account and creating a new character over and over for the sole purpose of farming the rewards?
Sure, buying another account may seem like a big deal to some, but many buy accounts on the fly for simple things like spare lots or boredom. Hell, you can get the first nice loot reward within 15 minutes, easily doable with a Krayt Republic Blaster or a friend, no combat skill required.
Personally, I'm sort of uneasy about the prospect of many smiths doing exactly just that. Risk vs Reward is sort of out of whack for those nice weapon stocks.
