I have a few of these and was wondering what you're all doing with them? Nowwith the new post patch versions, ranges have been adjusted making the older pre-patch ones not as good. Is there still a market for the old ones? Even at a significant disount would anyone buy these?

They make nifty wall decorations for your shop.
Whenever I make a new and better build (usually speed/damage wise) I heavily discount the older weapons. When they don't sell for a week or two I destroy them. Since there isn't much difference in the damage on the new Pikes many newbies wouldn't notice that the ranges are significantly better so I just destroyed my older models right away. The DX2s are another matter though. I'm still selling the older models, just at a reduced price.

Destroy them. Its not worth your time and effort to do anything but.
Thats just my opinion,
I destroyed 400-500 vl's/lva's this last patch and while it sucked, thats life in an evolving game where they suddenly change items without comming up with a good rationale in game as to why the same schematic you have always used suddenly makes a weapon that never existed before.
Can I invent RP reasons myself? sure can and I do.. But it would be nice for the game to have consistant rationale across the player base not a case by case basis.
With a major weapon change like this the stats should have changed on the old weapons too is my position, the armor piercing of a weapon would be inherited on a 'pre-change' weapon (if they were to change it, this isn't a theory but proven when they stuffed about with the T21's some time back) but statistics that are experimentable (or variable per item) won't.. This is (I believe) so that suddenly items that had been experimented on in those areas dont potentialy 'go backwards'.
The way it should have been done imo is to have changed all existing weapons to the new template by changing their to hit values based on what the default old values were..
As an example my lva's had had 3 points of range mod better than the 'norm' so mine would be 3 points better than the norm now is.
I guess they just dont like the idea of major downtimes to run updates across entire server cluster databases. (can't be to hard to code for it surely)

Try Slicing them and selling them that way. If you luck out and get a 30% or better slice people will actually ignore the range modifier and will more than you susally charge for the stock weapon.
The other idea is to just sell them on the Bazaar. I sold some old LLC's that were given to me by a fellow WS who quit. The stats were well below what can be made now, but I threw them on the bazaar and they sold for 5k each.
Just no point in throwing them out.

Actually, before destroying them... if that's all your going to do... why not make some true noob's day? Put a bunch of them on the bazaar for say, 500 credits... Even a noob still has to work to earn that kind of cash, but they'll feel they have really WORKED for something, at their level... and it will help them alot, as they'll have a better weapon early. To avoid bazaar-merchants buying them up instead, try putting them on a starting planet that is NOT very populated (ie, tyrena or Kor vella, instead of coronet) (at least on Scylla)

Sell them to a smuggler in crates so he can grind slicing 3 and 4

As a former Master Pikeman, the only use I would have for pre-patch Long Vibro Axe's is for use attacking turrets or lairs.

I agree decorate your shop with it. If you have Merchant IV hiring, toss it on your vendor and make them look COOL!
