Thread: Why do weapon Enhancements sell for so much

Ok, first of all I am on Tarq and hopefully this is not the case for your server, but if it is, I dont get it. I just picked up 2 stacks of casings with 184 and 180 damage, with 4 in each stack. I paid 4 mil a stack. Now these casings are worth the money right now because I can make a bunch of Featherweights with SAC capped and try to get as close to the damage cap as i possible can (although i personally believe speed capped should be next). Now each pistol will sell on my server for 2 mil easy and if i can double cap it, then maybe 2.5 to 3 mil. So it is easy to see how the 8 mil i just spent is justified.


Now - Powercells. I just saw a price check on a stack of 6 184 damage power cells that a person offered to pay 10 mil for. This i dont get. There is only one weapon that i can even begin to see the justification of paying that much money for and that is the Trando Rifle because people are paying up to 20 mil for this rifle. But that is it.Every other rifle uses to many of the cells to make 1 rifle (off the top of my head the ALR take 4 if iam correct.) I have never seen a double capped ALR sell for more than 6 mil and that one took a while.Yes you can take the left over cells, if there are any, and stuff them into a HC Scatter, but even these dont sell for over a 1 mil, maybe 1.5mil if you are lucky. I have some really good HC scatter on my vendor for 1.9 mil right now and they havent moved.


So I guess I have a few questions:


1. Am i missing something, is there a weapon out there that is so great that 10 mil for a stack of 184 powercells is justified.


2. Anyone else experiencing this on their server, or is mine just out of whack

I got a stack of 4 powercells for 1 million the other day, if the price is too high just don't buy.... They will come down in price, just may have to wait a little.


Also you are getting overcharged on your casings IMHO, the market is already completely flooded as there is only one weapon to use them in really.

im paying like a mil a set max for casings......... powercells are a little different because they are alot more usefull. i wouldnt pay more than about 5-6 mil for a set of cells tho. it sounds like the market on your server is either out of whack atm or there is someone who is willing to pay too much looking to get a perfect weapon crafted for personal use. (that happened on valcyn) prices will drop on all this stuff tho...... that is a given.

I completely agree that the prices on my server are outragous. The problem is that i made 3 featherweights the other day, not even double capped, Sac of 65 and Damage of only 927 and they sold by the end of the day.

Well you know what you ned to stock for the next few weeks..... Look on the vendor search for the casings, on my server there are planty for 600k a stack and up...

lol and I can't even to get more than 1 mil for a sac capped HCSP with 2.1s 930 max damage

I actually think that the price of cells are going to rise as less people are doing the npc missions. They seem a lot rarer on our trade forum than they were 4 weeks ago. This means the the guns will have to go up in price too.

thats exactly what happened. to the original poster, the prices you are discussing here are not the average at all. i personally never pay more than 1mil per on them and never buy anything thats not at least 175 and -8. i still go through lots of cells. theres always exceptions, somebody wanting their capped weapon right now with lots of credits for example may buy something out, or even i might if i need something quick to trade for something else.


we have a smaller population on tarq so everything is a bit more scarce, but theres also alot of long time players with lots of resources to go after these rare items with.

Heh if you want out of wack prices check the Bria trade forums now and then. Things just... get outragous on such a daily basis I hardly even notice anymore.

NoSup4u - I can look at several post on the trade forum of tarq right now that have the exact prices that i am talking about, so i would say that they are average. In fact the current set of post on the trade forum is what caused me to start this tread, and your post that you would take a stack of 5 power cells for 5 mil yesterday.Maybe you are confused by my question, i am not saying that people are selling them for 4 mil each power cell but a stack of 4.


That is my quesiton though, 1 mil each power cell seems way to high even. So i take it that there is nothing that really justifys the high prices then

you werent originally posting about 1mil per cell. i think thats a reasonable price currently for 175 and up cells.the one quoted seems to be an exception. if you can find several stacks going for 2mil per cell on our tradeforums then yes perhaps they are going up as one poster mentioned. i havent noticed it yet in game where many more transactions occur but who knows. adjust your prices accordingly.

It's what the other guys have said. It's the end-users that started buying the enhancers. JohnnyRifleman went to Sally Weaponsmith and said, "I want teh BEURestest rifle, what do I need?" Sally tells him and off Johnny goes to the forums...he sees an auction for what he wants and proceeds to bid it up. Money is no object 'cause he just sold that +10 LS exper. CA and has a standing offer to buyas manyBane's heart crystals and GDK scales as he can get.


End result: enhancers are bought at a price higher than the crafted gun would go for.


BillyBountyhunter loots some nice cells, checks the auction and sees what Johnny paid for similar cells, so he sets his auction just a little higher...wash, rinse, repeat.


In short, you are bidding with people that don't have to worry about making a profit, they're just trying to get the tools their WS asked for.
