Thread: *Sigh* I love weaponsmith but....
well after a few krayt T21's adv lasers, plasma flamer elites , mark2's , dl44's , a couple more gorax featherweights ....i got really bored , im hanging in there in the hope of some light at the end of this tunnel , dont wanna sound like a whiner ,but ive been ahanging in there with this game for 2years . finally there are some great changes in game but have come at a great cost to the proffesion thats kept me here even when combat was at its worst.
lots of similar post like this cropping up over the past few weeks , and its its by many longtimers who didnt quit with the cu , i guess we held on to the quote of "a weapon for every situation" , and now it seems tobe dawning on many that as with many other statements from them , this has turned out not tobe the case ,
i cannot get my head round the looted schematic situation, there is no way whatsoever that they havent realised they were granting us free schamtics that would make these obsolete (not one is worth using now, apart from featherweights) , there is just no way a group of game makers would overlook this fact , which is leading me to think more and more that this is the road we are now on and they have no intention of changing it .
anyway just 2cents comming from a VERY bored weaponsmith .
Add to the insult of any "non-template weapons" like Accuracy Tenlosses, Low-HAM T-21's, or For-Looks Edition weapons converting to nothing - I'm glad I got out of WS when I did and didn't even attempt crafting PostCU

With the removal of different damage types
I miss the old damage types so much.. alot of my pve fun wasexamining mobs to see the resists & decide what to use on it.
SOE has embarked upon a flight from complexity with the CU, probably becausethey found it too difficult to balance. But I think they went too far in some areas.I really want the old damage types back.
I have found that there is one big thing that leads to people to buying master box only weapons:
The myth that those weapons are the only ones u can be effective with combined with the myth that only MOBS with a CL 1-6 levels higher than you (80-86) drop "good" loots...............to both i say hogwash!!!!!
I am a 12 point WS and i have made all the new weapons....and have used all of them extensively.....on my current loot hooring toon i carry no less than 6 weapons at any one time and i switch them out depending on my mood and which will be best suited for what im killin. are all master box wepons? NO!
I also have been working at changing the way people think about their weapons.........its kinda like golf my enhanced e-11 is 320ish base dps and thats my driver....i dont always need to "hit the ball" 300 yards.....some times i need more finesse (ie speed ,lowered action cost etc.).....so a mid ranged iron like a 280 ish base dps de-10 or dl44 xt that action cost and speed have been heavily experimented on before i touch damage is alot better for when im killing level 60-79 mobs......i can root, snare, kd, very fast and not run out of action.......most times on a level 79 melee mob i dont even get touched before they die (and no i dont run around like a gnort with their head cut off).......maybe im crazy tho......
the weapons i carry at all times:
DE-10
Berserker Rifle
Enhanced E-11 Carbine
Elite Carbine
Modified Republic Blaster
Jawa Ion Rifle
Dl44 XT
Tusken Rifle

nice idea, if only it were true , the problem is that a low level weapon still has the same action costs , higher speeds and less damage ,
the world u talk of doesnt exist , the top of the range weapons can be made into a dps mode or a sac mode , no need for any other weapon type whatsoever , its no myth .

my only decsision is to use either my DL 44xt or my FWG 5 energy for most encounters kinetic for Jedi and those wearing recon armor. What ever happened to the idea of weapon having different firing modes... one of them was focused I think... and you could switch your firing mode on the fly to better penetrate different armors. I rememebr all the BS we were fed before the CU hit TC. They were telling us all this cool stuff that would happen in the CU, and I never once read anything about CLs or dumbing down the game. Why did they make my game suck.

I'm seriously beginning to wonder if SOE are making it so that SWG is geared towards people with low IQ (note politcally correct term, I didn't call them stupid). Base DPS being one example, anyone can whip out calc on windows and add min to max divide by 2 then divide by speed....... but I guess low IQ'rs wouldnt know what a calculator is
I agree 100%. SWG is (was) quite unique in that it can cater to several types of people. The elite crafters, such as Weaponsmiths, Armorsmiths, Bio Engineers, Chefs etc... are (were) intellectually challenging professions, while the combat professions were more tuned forthe hack-and-slash, adventuroustype folk. Doctors and non-AFK dancers/musicions catered to the "help your buddies" type of person. And there's even the ever so rareImage designers for those that like to ........ well, don't know why we have them. Anyway, now SOE has brought all medics into combat roles, diminished the intellectual side of crafting (Especially combat meds and doc buffs), and all but eliminated the need for entertainers, heck...I've even seen a free-uselooping macro doc buffer (Who'd a thunk-it?)
SOE has definately toned down the game to cater to the people with mush in their heads....some say it's because SWG is coming to Playstation. I don't know if that's true, but it might explain a few things.
