How the Combat Upgrade is very similar to No Child Left Behind

1) Every Weaponsmith will have to relearn what they have been taught or taught themselves because of ever changing standards.

2) No matter what you have done to prepare yourself for your new experience/grade that hard work is now rendered useless. You will eventually cap out on knowledge because you have met the standards and now our Developers do not wish for us to excel anymore.

3) You will not have to worry about resources available because you will hit your cap and when you hit your cap no one cares anymore.

4) If you are lazy don’t worry because everyone will give you their undivided attention to help you succeed. They will in essence devote all their attention to you, to help you try to get caught up as fast as possible and ignore those smiths that are in a sense “accelerated”.

5) If you don’t really care about weaponsmith but hate the success of others, don’t worry you will be given every opportunity to succeed. Although, if you do not use the opportunities the first time don’t worry complain some more and you will receive other opportunities to play catch up.

6) Your tissues will not convert correctly because that will put you too far ahead of the others.

7) Your ABPH will not convert correctly because you did extra work before the CU and thus they can’t allow that. Hard work is frowned upon not complimented.

8) Everyone’s weapons must look the same, except for the name of course.

That is from a WS perspective. What diversity is left in a game that had the most diverse experience ever?

Don’t give me who has the best skill either; eventually everyone will learn the FOTM Combo or moves. It’s like Tekken but without the cheat sheet to start out with.

Having done a bit of crafting on TC-Valcyn, I'm not sure I agree with you on how much of a big deal this will be. I experimented a couple weapons all-damage, with +59 tissue, and never hit any cap. With the exception of some +300 tissue, it doesn't seem like cap hitting will be very likely.

Now, if the smuggler revamp ever goes through, things will be interesting. Based on how they described it, it sounded like slicing will be something most people will not want done. Meaning that if you get near the cap w/o slicing, there's no problem.

Granted, there are still problems to be taken care of:
- Weapons coming out stun damage instead of their expected value
- Accuracy modifier either broken or not showing
- Scopes being pretty useless

But it's going to be the profession ending change some people are making it out to be.

I can say this...

Testing WS on the TC got me kind of worried. Forget what exactly now, but the powerHammers were giving me this msg about the wound was too high and some other crap. Some of the guns I made got some DMG is too high crap (+82 tissues used). I don't really mind the dmg and speed being seperate, but this crap of making us all equal is LAME! I'm not as big as the other smiths I'm fine with that. I hardly ever do factoy runs and there is the problem I have. I make one offs and sell em for cheap, I just like crafting. I get tonnes of enhancement loot from guildies and have fun amking them cool weapons. Why the hell should I care if I'm equal to the other smiths? I don't want to be equal, I want to be me. I think that equality is the stupidest thing to impliment into crafting. Some crafters are better than others, some fighters are better than others. Nothing in the CU has made sence so far other than making it the same as EQ EQ2 to make it easier on the DEV's. Right now the fighting is a joke, they still need lots of work. The weapons and LVL system are even worse. Biggest problem is that they don't tell us anything, they dodge questions, and then turn off the longtime die hard fans of this game. Making things easier is not what we need, we need things to WORK properly, and have some sort of callenge to playing. So far the only challenge in the CU is not getting so upset with what they have done that you quit right now. A lot can and has to change before it hits live. Even the buggy old SWG is better tna this CU stuff so far.

The point you guys are missing is if the dmg caps or not doesnt matter

the dmg dealt to the target is 99% relative to your level and targets level. The weapon stats only allow you to kill something lower level than you a little quicker....

when attacking something higher level their defence and dmg modifiers are better than yours and you have no chance.

When attacking something lower level yours is higher than your targets so with or without a good weapon the target has no chance

I went by only what I have read so far and I couldn't find posts to negate the rumor of damage caps. What I am focusing on here is the conversion and how it's handled so far; and what veteran smiths have done to try to put their product ahead of others.

As to the whole I haven't tested the CU so far. I don't want to waste any of my time in testing the CU because I believe I will figure out what I need to do rather quickly when it hits live.

and yes and that's the whole problem and why all crafting is moving towards the kind in EQ2 where all weapons are available, just different varieties by level.

The differences probably won't be noticed in PvE, I think where most player crafted gear will differ is going to be in PvP where even small amounts may have an impact.

So what you are saying is:

- Use up all of the parts we have now;

- Give the weapons a generic name;

- Go on Vacation until after the CU goes live;

Does that sound about right?

essencially your right, if its lower then you, then you WILL defeat it unless your stupid, if its higher then you, you WILL loose no matter what. they pretty much turned this into a very boring system. anything less level then me can't even hurt me, anything above me kills me in 1 hit, same level stuff is a decent match, but having a superior weapon doesn't matter as much as before.

however weapons will make a difference in PvP because everyone will be about the same level. so capping it puts all players equal even if some hae invested 100000's of hours or people who play once a week. everyone will be the same with caps like this
