"After fighting off the pirates and gathering their cargo, players can use the asteroid resources as trade goods at a resource hub space station, or keep it to be used in crafting schematics."

"Enterprising space miners have a second option. They can choose to sell their ore on the open market via the bazaar or even keep it themselves as crafting resources. For those interested in crafting, some of the new craftable items that use these specific resources include:

  • High-Mass Ships: High Mass Z-95 Headhunters, TIE Fighters or Light Hutt Fighters can be crafted with the proper schematics. Each of these space ships has an increased mass that makes it comparable with higher tier ships of a similar class.
  • New Ship Weapons: New craftable ship weapons with different appearances and characteristics.
  • New Multi-Passenger Ship Components: There are new craftable components that are so heavy that they can only be used on ships such as the YT1300, but have better statistics.
  • New Craftable Paint and Texture Kits: Space ore can also be used to craft new paint and texture kits.
  • Other new items: Other new items will be showing up in the galaxy for both ground and space that will require these new types of resources, so stay tuned!"

All I want them to do is introduce these new resources first. See how crafters cope. See the effect on the economy. Then, add new schematics that use them (presuming they don't force us to use them). I think that's a pretty reasonable request.

I'm worried that with the intro of space mining they will change our schematics to include new Space resources. My understanding is that the new space resources are all unique -- so you won't have tosearch for the regular ones we depend on in space (presuming they had potentially higher stats). In other words, space mining might be optional. But I'm worriedthey willforce us to include space resources either as necessary components or (worse) as important modifiers.

I really don't like JTL -- I really don't want to have to master a whole new slew of information (ship stats) and spend time grinding out pilot to survive mining in space. I would much rather take the known risks of mining on the ground knowing my chances and the terrain. What does the community think? Thx

You will only see more space resource requirements as time goes on. There nothing worse than a mining game where no one can use what you mine. Is this any worse than Geo-cubes, Krayt tissues, or such?

I like the space mining feature. So many will be up there mining ore/gold/gems/etc so i dont think you will have a problem getting "space" resources. Plus i like the fact you can sell right at the starport and not have to do auction or use a vendor.

Plus since starports buy resources at a certain %, you wont have people trying to rip each other off. Maybe this will help balance resource prices. Plus you can stock up on 30k resource kits before this goes live. I have 10 so far ( 300k ). Going to try to buy 10 more before expansion comes.

I am really looking forward to this feature.

I actually dont mind the introduction of space resources. The more resources the merrier imo (go ahead call me weird ) But if its true that these resources can be sold to NPCs I see a huge problem in this. And I believe that will drive resosurce prices up just like the price of reverse engineering has become quite high cause people find it easier just to unload their loot on the NPCs.

If they go through with us requiring space resources Im all for it, but dont make us compete with NPCs for needed resources, that would be an issue I think

And do you need ROTW to buy and use the Space resources? Obviously if you want to mine on Kashykk you need the expansion. Do you think a WS needs to get the expansion to compete?

It seems that only the new ROTW schematics that a shipwright gets require mined resources from space. I suspect anything on ground that requires space mined resources would be something that would flat out require ROTW to start out with...

Why cant the person who does not have RotW just buy the resources from one that has? That would make it a very good supply and demand scenario. Too many resources currently are too easy to get on your own, Ive always thought the miner profession should have been fleshed out like originally planned.

Maybe...I haven't really encountered any ground items that take the resources yet. So they made me reserved for the schematic weaponry? Quest items (maybe for cybernetics?)? Lots of questions, and unfortunately few answers...
