This thread will tell you how to master any crafting profession without you having to do anything at all other than get TONS of resources (which you would need to do anyway...because experiance is a direct correlation to resources used in crafting) and check up on your computer every hour or so to restart the macro. I tested this on my character, it worked fine, there is a lot of guesswork involved (guess and check kind of stuff) but it only took me about 15 minutes to get this whole thing working.Since this is in the weaponsmith board, i will suggest people make Metal Staff's. They require 42 resources, are complexity17, and give good exp...*EXPis directly related to amount of resources use*. However, the real keyreason is that they ONLY REQUIRE ONE RESOURCE!!! If you are trying to make something that requires more than one resource, you CAN make this happen by fooling aroundwith theAutoRecorder (as explained below) however itis much morecomplex ... unnecesarrily complex. ALSO, thisWILL cost most likely1,500,000 credits (1.5 mil). You need500k steel to get from novice weaponsmith to masterweaponsmith.... if you follow this you can get it in notime at all....but just keep that in mind.Also,this works best if youare only carrying 1 resources...i usually put everything besides steel inmy backpack and just go witht hat. Anyway, read on if you are too intrigured to read the rest of this introduction.

First thing, you have to create a macro in game. This macro has been all over the boards (i figured it out other than using the boards so i guess its pretty universally used). If you havent seen it yet, here it is. First, you can press ctrl + f2 to get to a secondary toolbar, and then ctrl + f1 to goback to your primary toolbar (it might be ctrl + 2 and ctrl + 1, i honestly dont remember and dont have access to the game right now.) Either way, you go to your secondary or any free toolbar of yours and put a new macro into slot f1 (toolbarSlot00). Then, in slots shift + f1 to shift + f7 (a total of 8 crafting tools) you put your crafting tools into those slots. I used 4 different macros, but they can all be combined into 1, so i will show you the combination and how to split it up. Now that you have your toolbar all set, you will have to fool around with the /selectdraftschematic until you can find the correct draft schematic. Remember, if it requires a specialized tool to craft, and you are using a generic crafting tool, the schematic will be skipped. What i did to find this, i counted across the top row to see how many were across (there was 5 schematics per row for me) then counted the columns, and multiplied to two numbers, and if it was too far up i would make the number smaller and try again, or vice versa, I repeated this process until i got the exact draft schematic number. Now you are all set to create your macro. Simply copy what i have here. (without the stuff in parenthesis...)

/ui action toolbarSlot11;

/selectdraftschematic 121; (the 121 will actually be replaced with the real number you found)

/pause 5;

/nextcraftingstage;

/nextcraftingstage;

/createprototype practice no item; (this will not make a prototype, so your inventory will not fill up while youare doing whatever out of game...)

If you want to make this seperate macros, you can just split it up before the selection of a crafting tool - just be sure to connect the macros so its an infinite loop. You may also have to play around with the pause times, but what i did is i made a small house in the middle of nowhere and stood there while macroing so i didnt have the clutter of people in town lagging me. It worked for me with these pause times (i actually use /pause 4 to select the resources) but whatever works for you.

Next, your crafting tools SHOULD all open to the same place (atleast mine did) so that the resources are all in the same location on the screen and it is simply a series of monotonous clicks. This is where the second out of game macro comes in. First, open a crafitng tool and put a peice of scotch tape where the resource is. Then, minimize or quit the game and go to www.readmesoft.com and click downloads and download the AutoRecorder v3.0. You will need to set the first number at the top left where it is 1 to a huge number (i think i did 100000). This will make it loop, to as much as we will care, infinitely. Then, put your mouse onto where the scotch tape is, then press f10 and click enter twice with one hand while pressing the left mouse repeatedly with the other. After a second or two, press f11 to stop the macro. Then, press f9 to open the macro (it should be called fullrec) and then play it. The mouse will not move...but that is not a problem, just use the Alt + Tab menu to get back to SWG. Then, when you are in SWG, be sure you are in free look mode (with the yellow pointer not the green circle, if you havea green circle press Alt to change views). Now you need to look at where it in in respect to your peice of tape. Make a note in your mind (like its high and to the left so move the mouse down and to the right). Alt + Tab out of the game to windows, then press f8 to stop your macro. Now, you need to redo the process of recording the macro again, adjusting for the error you saw last time. If there was no error, then your good to go. Once the mouse starts clicking on the scotch tape on your monitor, you can remove the scotch tape and start the AutoRecorder macro, then return to the game and press f1 to start your macro. Magically, the item will be crafted again and again without you even looking at the computer!

There are still some tricks you have to keep in mind. First thing that you will realize, is that this ultimate loop INGAME is ultimately hard to stop...especially with the mouseclicking macro going crazy. What i did is Alt + Tabbed to windows, stopped the mouse macro, then went back to SWG and pressed Ctrl + A, editted the macro that is in the f1 slot, and then went down to the bottom and deleted the /ui action toolbarSlot00; line to make the ultimate loop end, and then just waited for the macro to reach its end (shouldnt take longer than a minute). I'm sure theres a better way, but this is how i figured out to do it and it worked for me...it might not work for you. Please post if you know a better way. Next, and very importantly, is you must only carry a certain amount of resources. Be sure you only have enough resources that you WONT exceed your current exp cap. Im not sure what the cap is nowadays, it used to be 2x the max exp you could get for the next level (for example, if i was at Firearms 2 and needed 63k to get to Firearms 2, and didnt have any weaponsmith skills over tier 2, my cap would be 126k) But this may not be the case anymore...anyhow whatever your skill cap is be sure not to be carrying MORE than half that amount of resources. For the metal staff's, you will get 84 exp and use 42 resources, a perfect 2:1 ratio....so only have 1/2 as many resources as experiance to your cap (for the example above, 126k / 2 = 63k). Then, you will not be wasting resources.

If anyone has questions, i will try my best to field them although i tried to explain everything i know in this post, but i will try so dont be afraid to ask. If anyone has any better alterations to this plan, explain them here. Questions or comments?

Hope this helps all you jedi-ambitious souls. I gave up after getting Master Architect, then Master Weaponsmith... maybe someday though...

Heh yes you're in direct violation of the EULA if you use that, any program like auto-it or xylobot is off limits.

Its funny how everyone thinks that master professions should be just handed to them like that

WAKE UP

It is hard to get up to Master for a reason...like its really gettin any harder now...I actually believe it was somewhat easy being a casual player who mastered in like 2 months and didnt even play every day of the week or for that many hours even.

as far as stopping the macro: /dump;

but isn't this autorecorder method illegal? ie violates the EULA

I'm not sure, but I believe you're violating the EULA by using that external macro gizmo.
