Is anyone seeing an inordinate number of crit fails on the more complex assenblies?
Was attempting to make a T21 on Tuesday night.
attempt 1 - Crit fail
attempt 2 - Experimentation Moderate, Moderate, Good, Moderate
attempt 3 - Crit fail
attempt 4 - Succeeded
On Wednesday Night, attempted to make a Rocket launcher
attempt 1 - Crit fail
attempt 2 - Crit fail
attempt 3 - Success
attempt 4 - Crit fail
Using the best quality tools (94% Crafting tool, and a +43.5 station) with 110 Weapon assembly skill (I'm a Mon Cal).
Artisan crafting:
40+ items, no critical failures, only 4 items discarded (less than perfect).
Basic weapon crafting:
Didn't count, but I crafted a number of pistols with no critical failures, and few discards.
I realize it's a small sample size, and maybe I just had a string of really bad luck, but with the high number of parts it's not practical to try to hand craft a large quantity of T21s or Rocket Launchers...
Thanks

Personally I'm of the opinion that the +40 crafting stations are to blame for high crit fail rates.
I went back to using the normal model (around 16-17+) because I was getting such poor results from my guild's +42 model. Now I get what I'd expect to be getting. The occasional crit fail and perhaps 2 moderate successes every 25-30 exp pts.
Try it and see. I think that some of the DE parts for the high stats model are buggy or something and are leading to problems...

rocket launchers from experience are notorious for critcals .It is the only schematics i ever did where i had 3 in a roll.

One theory I've seen is that the number of crit fails/moderates is directly related
to the latency you are experiencing (ie ping time). I keep forgetting to put up my
monitor when I craft, but I think it would be interesting to see what we as a group
see with this.

Thanks for the replies.
I'll try to swap out my craft station and see what happens. I still have my older 23ish craft station.
I've had 3 in a row failures lots of times. I believe that the random number generator is really pseudo-random. On a critical fail, if I reload the craft tool rapidly, and retry, another crit fail or two often follows. I've started waiting for 15 seconds or so after a crit fail before attempting another combine, and I rarely get strings of crit failures any more (on simple items.)
I've heard the ping time theory, and watched this for a while. I've seen no correlation. There were a few times that lag caused a delay during the combine, but the success rate didn't seem to change. My crit fails occured with 150ish ping times which is normal for my connection from the East coast to Ahazi.
