Charge what you paid for the tissue plus the gun's normal price and a little bit extra for custom making it, sounds like you did ok to me.

Bah, I completely avoid these situations. If they want a Krayt weapon, fine, bring me the tissue and I'll charge you exactly what I would charge for the standard weapon. This saves both yourself and others alot of heartache.

Yesterday I crafted a Kryat Laser Rifle for a customer who "special oredered" it. I use 4 Kryat Tissue +80 something to make. I used the best resources that I had avail to me. (The tissue was a set of 11. Paid 3 mil for it) The end result. 35-518 6.2 speed pre slice. Not sure on the slice he got. He was more than willing to pay the 1.1 mil that I asked for it. After mentioning my nice weapon to others they said that I ripped him off and Iexplained that it was mostly to cover the cost of the tissue + 10k for my resources. Just curiouse how some other WS might have priced this weapon.

Price sounds more fair to me. Asa matter of fact sounds like you may have sold it rather cheap. Don't even bother listening to all the morons out there that has no idea what goes into making a weapon. If they had their way we would be selling the guns with krayt in it for a 3 credits a piece of mineral -with the tissue counting as 1 a piece.

My pricing policy is pretty much as most of the successful weaponsmiths here -weather they know it or not:

1. Type of weapon.I chargeporportionate more for the higher end weapons. Thinking here is it will be used to make the buyer porportionate more money.

2. Special order. I do charge for special orders. The way i look at it is that i am stopping whatever i am doing to create it for them and while that is a part of good customer care. They (generally) realize that items cost more in a personalized shop than from a walmart vending machine

3. Special components. (krayt tissue in this case). Generally if they bring their own tissue I add onjust a tad for the build. If i am using my tissue they get charged what I paid for it +10% or If i harvested it myself, what the fair market value of the tissue is at the time. Cause if ya critical fail -guess whotakes the hit if it is your tissue...?

I always raise the price of my krayt guns 25-50%. Anyone doing less is making a bad decision for 2 reasons:

1) crit failures and mod successes. I've had a few krayt guns that turned out worse than my mass produced stuff, and more than a few that didn't turn out at all. If you only charge customers what you pay for the tissues, allthese imperfect experimentsare direct loss to you.

2) You're a businessman, you work to make other people guns for PROFIT. If you aren't making money off of what you spend on tissues, why are you buying tissues?

What u charged was fine. I try to avoid custom orders by just sticking all the krayt weapons in 1 vendor.

Thanks for all the feedback. I prob won't raise my prices much but an extra 10% would help cover the cost of the crit failures

After having 2 weapons I built using a tissue brought to me, sell for over 30x what I got paid to build them I quit doing custom tissue work with anything but my own tissues.

However some customers really wanted me to do the work for them so I set up this policy. Pistols 200k Rifles 250k OR 1 tissue per tissue I build. If I crit I get nothing and will finish the weapon provided the client has enough tissue, no charge.

I also make the client be present during the build so I can take a screen shot of a crit with them in the picture. This I will send via real life email on request.

I've found that honest clients have no trouble with the price, which is still cheaper then a tissue weapon on auction, or for the30 .3 tissue they just take the tissue matching option. I do get some insults thrown at me, but the bottom line is if you don't like the price go to someone whose price you do like.

Next time you do a custom job for say a Laser, time your self, then look at the resources you had to use, and the fact that if you crit you get zip, and that if you don't crit the guy will just as likely sell itfor mega $$$$ as use it, and you'll see why I do it this way.

Think about it, did you spend all that time grinding, and mining, and grinding, then weeks or months more keeping up on the best of resources, so some combat type can bring you a +120 tissue(s) pay you 15k to do over an hour's worth of work and factory time, only to see him sell it on auction the next day for over a million? Oh, and heaven help you if you crit his precious 120, he'll be all over these boards and the shard calling you a thief in no time.

So I set my price at the point where I think it's worth the business risk to my reputation, along with my personal time, resources and expertise, any thing else is me being in business to make him rich.
