Thread: When to re-stock resources? (Using Jenner's / Fooman's tool)

I've finally started using Jenner & Fooman's Crafting Tool (v1.63b, available for download via the SWGCraft.com Weaponsmith Forum)... once I'd got round to the really dull task of copying all my resources (& stats!) into the tool, I've started to realise how much this tool rocks. Awesome.

Slowly, all the scarlet boxes are disappearing from my "WTH Today" page (got about 5 left, including Ostrine Carbonate Ore, sob), and the big blue "50%" differences between my stock and the current spawn are disappearing. I'm starting to feel pretty confident that by the time I hit Master (I'm not grinding, crafting everything and gathering resources as I go) I'll have a really good stock of all the resources I'll ever need! Still a while to go, am only 2204 at the moment.

I mostly use the tool to track new resources -- don't make much use of the schematics function -- and it's made my life a heck of a lot easier. Just curious about a couple of things, though...

  • How many WSs use this tool (or one like it)?

  • Are there any downsides to relying on a tool like this that I've not considered yet?

  • I'm using the Jenner/Fooman v1.6x tool -- is there anything on the Fooman v6.x tool that I'm missing that would make life even easier?

None of those are my main question, though!

When checking resources recently, I found an iron that had spawned that was listed as being 19% better than my current iron for use in schems like FWG5 pistol, Tusken rifle (50%OQ 50%CD)... hurried on over to Talus to harvest some, but found that it has only improved my weapons by about 5 points damage and 0.1 speed, much less that I'd expected. How much difference on the "What to Harvest Today" tab is enough to get your harvs out even if you've got a load of a given resource in stock already?

1. I use it. And I LOVE IT. I really, really LOVE IT. It has changed my life.

2. I can't think of any. Besides what to do with all the extra free time...

3. Generally, unless it's 1% or more better, I won't bother. Unless my stock is low (below 50k) or the resource is super-rare, or it wil juuuuust bump upmy final experimentation stats to the next whole %age.Normally, if it's better than what I have, I'm all over it, storage be damned. I am always striving to make my products the absolute best they can be.

Normally, I will toss 3 or 4 heavies on a resource for a week. My goal is to pull a quarter million units, but anything over that is just gravy.

Right now I'm pulling:

Byrothis gems (Stun Bat restock)

Irolunn Re Gas (Big APBH improvement)

Mythra Copper (Jawa improvement)

Doonium Iron (Jawa, Scatter, many other weapon improvement)

All, in all, this is one of the better resource shifts I have seen. Almost all of my weapons will be improved due to theIrolunn which improves my ABPHfrom 19/38 to 20/40.

Plus the Jawas will be nicer since they use both the Doonium and Mythra. My scatter pistol should also be a few points better.

The 1.63 tool is newer than the fooman 6.0 tool. And the 1.63 tool is configurable to any crafting profession, where the 6.0 tool is strictly WS with MA components.

I use it, I use it a lot. Anytime I log on to SWG I turn it on and check the spawns first. The only downside is that it tells you how to make the best weapon. Not much of a downside, but it takes something away from the crafting for me.

Usually I won't bother seting up harvestors on something unless it's either
  1. Better then 10%

  2. Really close

  3. Something I'm really low on

I'm having a little trouble with this tool and was wondering if anyone here could help me out. When I try to import resources from my server, Radiant, I always get a csv error. Could anyone remedy my problem?

Best place to look for help on this would be the thread that's stickied in the SWGCraft Weaponsmith Discussion forum here... Jenner has helped out a few people in that thread.

I use Fooman's tool 6.0 and I wanted to know if this Jenner tool is any better/different?

First off this tool is brilliant.

Is it better than 6 yes. Its an upgrade by Fooman and Jenner, contains lots of new schematics, several new features (identifies when a resource is near theoretical max for a stat and uses the crappest materials where no stat contributes etc).

It is a little slower but very acceptable.

It also supports other professions so allows for example Artisan items.

Hadn't realised that Fooman 6.0 didn't do this - I love this feature in JennerFooman 1.63. Each stat is shaded light or dark green according to how close to the theoretical cap it is (you set the relevant percentages, I think the default is 90% light green and 95% dark green)... you can instantly see that your 80CD Plumbum Iron is the dog's bollocks.

Also, each cell is commented to show you the exact cap on that stat and the exact percentage of that maximum that your resource is.

Other professions supported are: Weaponsmith, Armorsmith, Scout, Medic, Doctor, Artisan, Architect, Entertainer, Droid Engineer.

Fooman didn't do this. Jenner took the frame work from 6.0 and made modifications. Last I knew Fooman was still working on 7.0 and is due for release really soon. Jenner's is a lot nicer that Fooman's 6.0 but I can't figure out how to copy my resources over to Jenners and I am not going to re-insert them. another 20 hours is to much. I upgrade any time there is a better resource. But that keeps me ontop stat wise of standard non-enhanced weapons.
