Most respectable weaponsmiths has repair skill tapes that give repair bonus (if they work).
It also been claimed weaponsmiths has repair bonuses (can't find any confirmation of this by any dev)

Most of my customers come back to me to have their weapons repaired for free, they pick up some powerups at the same time and have a ncie chat

Lyzi, as a new weaponsmith I have to ask, what happens when the inevitable happens and the gun disintigrates in your hands?

Do you just say sorry and move on? Do you replace it? Do you give em a discount on a new one? I'm on the verge of master and so far I've been pushing off repair requests, but that will end soon. I'm not sure how I want to handle it.

Bynder, You really need to set your own policy on what you do if you repair a gun that's gonna disintergrate.

First and foremost it goes without saying, you should inform the customer that there's a chance that you will destory the gun in the repair process. If you intend to give a discount or replace the gun, again inform the customer before you do the repair. Basically just communicate and ensure both you and the customer know precisely what may or might happen and the consquences as a result.

As long as you are clear and concise, you'll encounter very few problems, if at all. And always remember, treat the customer as an individual, talk to them and try to be happy in the way you respond to them. You're twice as more likely to return to someone who's helpful and friendly than someone who's unfriendly

I always repair for free, and since i don't charge anything to repair, i wont give them anything if I fail.
I always inform new customers that there is a chance the gun breakor that max condition can be reduced.
And usually tells them the result is random and I can do nothing to effect the outcome.

I charge 4k per repair on hi end weaponry, do not guarantee the repair, but do not expect payment if I break the weapon. There is a post from a dev, although I can't find it now, that states weaponsmiths have a better chance at repairing weapons. I use a +5 skill tape in my repairs and have not broken one since putting it on. We do not have set percentages like a smuggler, but we do have a better chance according to the devs.

Yes, it is a tricky one, as it feels like you're repsonsible when the gun breaks, even though you have no control over it. But, if you look at it this way - if you intend on replacing guns that you break repairing then you'll only ever make 1 sale. And the customer will have an unlimited supply of weapons from you from then on, as long as he takes it to you to fix - if it's fixed all is good, if you break it you'll replace it?

Bottom line is if they expect replacements, you can just refuse to try repair it, or hand him a tool and wish him luck. I consider life beyond the first run of a weapon a bonus, not an expectation!

Yeah I repair for free and if it breaks its there loss 100% I take no responsibility for it (I don't even use my own repair tools I use ones they provide etc which is not too bad as our MA get a bit of business thru the 97% repair tools they churn out)! What I have found is that pre-nerf/Krayt or otherwise enhanced seem to fare worse as far as the repairing goes, my only crit on repair has been on a low end krayted scatter!

Now seeing as I don't know if there is a trend (and I don't wish to be the one to investigate on the few customers I do get) I now no-longer do enhanced weapons as they usually have forked out quite a bit of money for it and I don't even want to think about breaking something and coping the flak for it.

I'm not a WS, but I just had my T-21 repaired by the smith who made it. He was very cool about it. I actually met him near the Krayt graveyard while he was out on a hunt with a big group. He stopped what he was doing to fix the gun, with all kinds of guns and bombs blasting all around us. Felt a little like in a movie.

Another time, I had an older FWG5 that I took back to its maker for repair. Ho looked at it and said "This one is crap from when I was just learning the profession. Here's a brand new one that's much better. Thanks for supporting me way back when." Didn't charge me a dime. Can't beat that.

My policy on repairs is as follows:

I repair all weapons free of charge

If it's a Tuckiee Brand weapon all weapons above a max condition of 400 qualify for repair insurance.

I set it at 400 because it takes roughly 25 successful repairs to get to that level if the condition is in the 900's to start.

Repair insurance is saying if I crit fail on the repair they get a replacement at half price.

I crit fail one out of every 50 or 60 weapons. I know non weaponsmiths who fail 6 out of 10 times, and gave up repairing themselves and just let me do it for them.

I believe there is a greater chance of success for master WS as opposed to novice WS as opposed to non-WS. It hasnt been proven but the frequency each different group fails from what I've seen seems to lean towards it. I am starting to get my hand on some repair tapes incase they work, but there is no way of knowing that either.

they say that, but there is no mod listed for weapon repair. i've had similar luck repairing as my TKA char as with me WS char. I don't think they've properly "activated" what they said about WS having a better shot at repairing.
