Thread: Strange new factory bug...

...or at least I think there is.

As I'll be quitting in a few weeks I'm trying to make as much stuff from all my stored loot as I can.

Today I was concentrating on making sets of 6 geo sword cores (for hacks and scythes )when I noticed that the factory was using 350 units of my old old neutronium. Now maybe my memory is going but didn't it used tobe 300 (ie 6 * 50)?

Before you comment that I use 50 units for the schematic, I've already counted for that (and the cube/gel). I'm talking about usage in production from inside the input hopper.

Also factories seem to be not sending the "Your factory has run out of..." or "Your factory has stopped making....### items were made..." consistently. I believe that this is related.

Nothing's been changed (that I'm aware of) the last few weeks that could account for this.

So am I mistaken? Did factories always use extra resources like this? If so why did it only need 6 cubes when it used enough metal for 7 cores?

Appreciate if someone else could test this and report back.

If it's a bug it'll likely go unfixed and it's not really gamebreaking but annoying nonetheless...

Dev' Eloper uses Combat Balance Reschedule on you for 6-8 months worth of damage points!
You shoot your mouth off on the forums but miss! You post constructively but it is deleted!
Ubercred It'Duper tips you Cr 27,000,000,000,000,000,000 but you evade it!
Dev' Eloper uses Publish 10 Vendor Fix on you for 55 item limit damage! Your vendors and 12 months of work have become incapacitated!
You use Cancel Account Button on Dev' Eloper for $15 p/m of damage!
Dev' Eloper tries to use JTL Expansion pack on you for $50 worth of damage on you but misses!

You use windows sys32 fdsk utility on StarWars Galaxies program files for 2.4Gb of damage! StarWars Galaxies: An Empire Developed is no more!!

It's not a bug persay, but just a result of a failed manufacturing check.

Thefactoryused up that extra 50 because it attempted to make the 7th one. The factory used up 50 units of the neutronium, searched the input hopper for either the cube or agent, saw that it wasn't there, and aborted the manufacturing process.

The second e-mail sent will tell you what triggered the failed check -"blah blah blah ran out of blah blah blah 7 items made blah blah blah"

It doesn't happen everytimeunless you storeresources in your input hopper. For me this usually occurs accidentally when I place the wrong amount of a certain resource into the input hopper and the factory stops before I wanted it to.

The only way to prevent this from happening is to only put in the amount of resources you would like to go into the final product. Then the factory always stops when the first check fails, rather than in the middle of the process consuming all the materials that passed the check already.

This has been around for a while:

Example

Schematic takes

12 material a

34 Material b

1 subcomp serial dxsg33d3

You put enough subcomponents for 25 and enough materials for 30.

In the end you see that materials for 26 have been used. Why?

Factory goes, resource a (ok, consume) Resource b (ok, consume) Subcomponent .... (nope. Shutdown)

And you get the resources consumed before shutdown.

I had this happening once I didnt realize I forgot to add the recores for my stun bats

another way to avoid this that I have noticed is to specify the max number of uses when creating the schematic. That way it never tries to make that extra piece.
