I am a Master Smuggler on Farstar server. I have spent some time the last weeks to locate and buy some new rifles, wanted the best I could find. I have done some strange discoveries though, through testing with these socalled "uber" rifles and some slicing. Now this might not come asnews to a few off you guys, but let me explain:

All the complaining and griefing after CU, and some still are: "Oh, there are sooo many lootable weapons, I cannot craft anything anymore cause people all use loot stuff!!"

This was and still is the ongoing song specially from WS, AS and Shipwrights. This brings out emotions in the people uncertain if they want to continue and many drop the crafting skills to join in the loothunt or jedi grind or simply to quit the whole game.

So what happens?

Well, this is what I'm seeing on Farstar:

-The loot weapons are all crap. Apart from a very few like proton carbines and knucklers off Katarn they are not worth much.

-Lootweapons seem to decay faster, so if you don't have an ADK for this proton carbine, leave it on the shelf.

-Clone armors, nice looking but stats are far below what a skilled AS can make. Still these ancient pieces off old casserolls sell for 2,5 mil, can you believe it? Why? Because most good AS quit their profession, so now you get to buy armors with 1000 resistance less than what is possible for an amazing 400k!!! So most people walk arround thinking this clone armor is state off the art.

-The issue with dps has fooled everybody so far. DPS was viable in the calculators made before cu, but the current dps is not. It's more an estimator to what you can manage.

-What has been done wrong?

All WS make weapons with high dps because it's what sells. People don't know any better just yet. And why the hell do I want a T21 with 800dps when the WS gave a /(%&%¤ about sac and I'm able to shoot 4-6 shots before my action pool is empty. And that is if I'm doc and food buffed.

So as you keep making these sadly malfunctioning weapons and sell "Krayt enhanced laser rifles" with 122 sac for 3mil, most off the people will keep searching for the lootweapons. Because thay all have high dps and high sac,

-WS, start working with some fighterguys to experiment on which stats they want on a weapon, and you will be amazed to find that a rifle with 800 dps after pup gives almost the same hitpower if you use a sac pup instead and the dps lowers to 500. And the difference? Well, I can shoot and shoot and shoot and my actionpool never empties. Now how about meassuring not "damage- pr- second" but "damage-pr minute"!

-Give your production the best damage your resources allows. Then I will never have to do a damageslice again, and I don't mind.

-Then lower the sac. I don't want to see any weapons with sac above 100, you can throw them already. They are crap.

-Don't mind the speed, not ever!! It's what makes the nice dps number go up, but that is my job. I can slice speed on the weapons, and with a high max damage and dps on about 85, all can use speed pups and the weapon is suddenly state off the art. Then you can charge me 3mil.

I bought an advanced laser rifle with amazing 330 dps for 1,5 mil, thought I made a scoop. used a speedpup and the dps was increadible 841 dps. Krayt enhanced and all.

Then I figure it was pre cu and couldn't be sliced. oh bummer. Then I buy all sorts off food for action regain, but still only 5 shots before im "too tired". Crap. Sac is 122. I even used my adk on this one. It is worth in real maybe 20k.

I then went on a galaxy vendor search for rifles with low sac. I found in the entire galaxy 3 T21 rifles with sac below 100!!!!

Guys, are you doing this on purpose or do you actually don't know any better?

I bought all 3 off course, and they rock!

This will be an issue throughout the galaxies in the future, because whenever one smart WS or AS start making good stuff he will really make money. Now most are respec WS and AS and don't know any better. You guys need to craft the weapons better to educate people that crafted weapons are better. As long as noone cares about the sac I can sell any loot weapon with a speed pup and people will actually think it is worth 3 mil because dps is high.

So, who already knew this?!!

Good point really, you know what i would love is a companion post to the Pistoleer "How to buy a Pistol" it really gave me nice gauge to what hte profession is looking for as far as stats. Guessing can get expensive for us

So Mr Rifleman realistically what do you look for in your weapons stat wise?

I think most of us know, it's the customers that keep telling us it isn't what they want, but they are catching on.

I have made a point out of stocking both high dps and low sac weapons, thou most of my enhanced weaponry is Low SAC.

Think the reason you dont find many low sac T21s on vendors is that I for one rarely bother making them as ALR is so much better.

(I do however usually stock at least one T21 as I want to give my costumers the choice )

You do have a point, but fact is that most ranged rotw weapons can be competed with however you needquite high tissues to do so. Additionally many of these have skillmods and some even have a lot cooler skins making them more unique.

As for Melee weapons it is close to if not totally impossible to match the stats of the ROTW weapons with the ENhancers we have available atm.

But I don't thus why i am asking. I've made several weapons to be honest that I thought were great but I don't know the profession. So when I present it to Bob Rifleman he will choke on some random stat I screwed up.

I'd really like and idea of what a profession is looking for in things like; SPD / SAC / Etc, at least then I can give them valid reasons as to why it's not feasible for me to meet that stat.

So, after I even wrote this comment someone goes: "My alt WS is changing to Entertainer" because of the new BH mission drops.

Gimme a break, don't you get this at all?

And for you who want an explanation on the weapons:

-there is not one favorite stat for each weaponclass, this goes allround. If you bring out a pistol with modified speed 1.02 as BH/ pistoleer, what good does it do if it has 120 sac and you shoot 4 times and are out off action pool?

Not "damage- pr- second", start thinking "damage- pr- minute"

Sac, sac, sac that's the priority if you are Swordsman, pistoleer or commando.

People will start to figure that the Smuggler is the one that customizes the weapon depending on your template, not the ws.

As a rifleman/ SL or Ranger or CM you need a speedslice as your general ranged speed is not too high. Any profession with a BH or Swordsman in them wants a "critical strike chance" slice. A Commando/ rifleman would need a speedslice and a Master Brawler/ TKM/ Master Pikes simply should not slice their weapons as they are already capped on max damage and the template is capped on speed.

But the weapons should be all the same from the WS, makes it simpler don't it?

I like to make another point for the whiners, lets look at Shipwright:

-All the same stories as WS, people quitting SW as ROTW brought a lot off loot shipmodels and look what happes:

All the new ships and space quests made alot off people interested in space, some master pilots even changed to novice imp pilot for the one reason alone to fly the Jedi Starfighter. So what does this meen for business? Well, should guess you would have to go all the way to master to fly the Jedi Starfighter or to do most off the high end quests, and what do you need to become Master? A %&/%¤#%¤#" Shipwright vendor!!! Do I find one? NO, becauseall the SW areon the forums whining about becoming entertainers.

So the next best thing is to buy overpriced spaceloot on the bazaar, and after tier 2 the people don't even know that crafted equipment is always better, because they have nothing to compare with.

Sad story, but I know it is true because I spent most off the time in space after ROTW was released to become Master Pilot and get me a Vaksai vessel. And even on galactic vendor search I was not able to find any SW that had restocked their vendors.
