I have been away from the game the past week and have only been able to log into these boards to keep myself up to date.
Could someone who is in the know about the one day patch let me know if the following is correct...
During this one day crafters with 12 experimentation points were able to put all those points into a single experimentation line and hence produce results that were better dmg/spd than pre-patch weapons. They then either produced a bunch of these or made schematics for them. These weapons and schematics still retain thier stats after the patch to revert the changes.
Could someone tell me if this is correct?

No, the changes were still bad. Taking the changes out was a good move.
This problem is about the bug that allowed them to put in 12 points on as line meant for 10. Bringing back the changes is not the right thing to do.
Nerfing these items and schematics is the correct solution.

Correct. Only way for you to compete now is if they bring back the crafting enhancement.

Welp, I guess I'll hang around for 2 weeks and see if they nerf the schems and crates created yesterday.
If not, that will most definitly be my last straw.
I can handle exploits, I can report those.
I can handle non-stop tells for custom loot jobs, I can turn my afk on for those.
I can handle storage bugs and items vanishing, I can hit a CSR up for those.
....but I cannot handle this. If it was big difference it would be ok, easier to spot and would probably outlawed as exploits by the community. But a marginal difference will be passed of as better resources and a player could stock these freely and soon become the best smith on the server. With a 1000 unit schem to back them up it would go on for sometime.
Myself and a great many smiths I know have collected resources month after month after month to slowly climb to be the best. It was one heck of a road and the journey was worth every step. But to be shot down by a one day wonder who has the ability to stay at it for months to come, its just beyond my tolerance.
So saddly I will hang up the tools of the only SWG proffesion I love.
I hope things will have changed in the next two weeks. I really do.

Thats exactly why I started a petition for the crafting change to stay. The schematics/compoentns are in the servers already. Only chance you have is to beat us using the same system. No matter what uber resource spawns you will never be able to create products with stats some of us created patch day. About the crates.... You are assuming smiths still leave items in crates after the FWG5 nerf? I certainly dont.

I did not really like how the new weapons turned out. I made some to test the new system and the guns could come out higher dmg and faster but at the cost of range/ham/condition.
only weapons that were any good were ones with good high quality resources. The elites I made just did not impress me even though they were 3 pts higher min dmg and about the same speed.
