Thread: Skilltape question
Hmpf
The person before me is wrong. Yes they do stack. How do I know this? Well basicly becuse... if you drop a total of +20 Exp points into an armor/Cloth then you will get 2 extra exerimentation points. So YES they do stack.
You can only get one increase on any one skill per item of clothing. For example, you have 3 skill tapes all modifying X. In order to get the full benefit of X enhancement off of all 3 tapes, put one each of three different pieces of clothing that have sockets.
All items of clothing, including hats, shirts, belts, pants, jackets, gloves and boots, will accept items. Some are made with as many as 4 sockets, so it is possible to have 28 total sockets when dressed in clothing.
There are ten different pieces of armor, including helmet, chest plate, belt (in some types of armor), leggings, boots, left and right biceps, left and right bracers and gloves, so this would increase the total possible number of sockets to 40 when outfitted in armor.
How and where you put the clothing skill-enhancing tapes or armor skill-enhancing segments is up to you, as long as you remember to put tapes/segments of the same skill on different pieces of clothing/armor to get the full benefit of however many tapes/segments you have of the same type.
Another note: Some people say that a tape or segment which has two enhancements on it will only have one of those utilized. I haven't tried this out yet, but there are numerous threads devoted to this argument.
Here's the deal (it's been like this for quite awhile)...
If you put ONE +1 skill tape into a piece of socketted clothing, then you get the +1 bonus from that skill tape.
If you put ANOTHER +1 skill tape (SAME bonus/type of skill tape) - it "gets absorbed" - i.e. bugged, and DOES NOT ADD to the total bonuses.
I have NOT tried putting a HIGHER value skill tape of same bonus type - this may or may not ADD to the total bonus.
In short, if you have DUPLICATE skill tapes, you're best bet is to PUT THEM IN DIFFERENT SOCKETTED CLOTHING/ARMOR - that way they SHOULD all count (I haven't tried this yet either - I haven't been getting skill tapes for awhile now).
also if you have a skill tape with multiple +'s on it, the highest is used, if they are the same value the first is used:
a (Speed +2 damage +3) tape would give the damage +3
a (speed +3 damage +3) would give speed +3.
a (speed +3 damage +3 cover +4) would give cover +4
Also if you add a +7 pole arm speed to armor/clothing that already has +5 polearm speed, you end up with a +7 polearm speed(the +5 is replaced)

Ok... explain how it is possible to get 2 extra exp points by putting +4 +7 +3 +3 +1 +3 in 3 sets of clothes then.
if you have that in 3 sets of clothes it may have been a point where armor attatchments were working correclty, which makes you quite lucky as otherwise you would have wasted around 3-4 mil credits. Currently the same +skill will not stack on a single item of clothing.
Sounds basicly that if someone has, foe example, 5 tapes, each carry +2 to, say, food Exp., to put all of them on the SAME article of clothing would only yield a total of +2 to Food Exp.
On the other hand,
Using ONE of each tape, on a SEPERATE article of clothing each time, so that a total of 5 different clothing items all have ONE +2 Tape, then together they would yield +10 (orequivalently: 1 extra pointduring actual Foodexpirimentation). That means, for example, a pair of Pants,a Shirt, pair ofGloves, pair ofBoots, and aCloak (Or substituate one of those for any other type that can be worn at the SAME time as others...).
So, to use a bunch of tapes that have all of the same skill mod, you have to figure on devoting a seperate set of clothing to wear when wanting their full effects (The above example would illustrate a clothing set for wearing when Crafting + Expirimenting with Food(S)), so you can effictivlespread however many tapes you have acrosss each of the clothing items, while getting the most out of the points working as they do, currently.
