Alright, so it's been a couple of weeks since I entered the new and exciting field of weapon crafting. In my short time on the job I've already experienced my fair share of goof ups, obnoxious customers, and misleadingly empty vendors. I did not spend months collecting resources like most weaponsmiths say they did before grinding, I just started grinding on a whim and have tried my best to get all the things I need in line ever since. I've found quite a few very helpful guides on these forums and a few other websites but there are some questions I still have. If anybody in the community has the time to throw me an answer I would appreciate it.
1. Is there a website that has a pricing guide for new weaponsmiths to follow based on resource cost or something along those lines?
Time and time again, I see pricing questions hit the forums. Sure I could check the other vendors on my server (because all the servers have different economies I know) but if there was a guide out there to help in basic pricing using the # of resources and their cost, that would be extremely helpfull.
2. A more personal question, do any of you actually feel that you make money on producing high end weapons? (krayted and acklay mostly)
It seems that the cost of these base components is so high, it would be incredibly difficult to make your money off the item let alone a profit, without a really lucky slice. I would love some input to see if you continue to make these simply for the publicity or if you actually feel you make money in the long run.
3. Who wants a cookiee?
I know I would like one. Does anybody share my desire?
4. Do you beleive in selling your weapons sliced or unsliced? And do you price them based on the slice % or are your speed the same and damage slices the same?
I can see advantages to both ways, I am simply wondering which is more widely practiced.
5. Do you harvest your own resources or buy them in bulk as they spawn?
For a weaponsmith with only one character, harvesting their own resources can bea hassle I'm sure. Who bothers with it?
and finally
6. Who belongs to a guild that actually helps them or has helped them in the past?
Just a curiosity of mine, I'm deciding whether or not to join one myself.
Thanks for your time, feel free to simply browse through the responses, or answer any or all of the above questions if you care to.

Welcome fellow Chilastran
1. There are a few smiths who have their own website showing their wares/stats/prices, there's a thread here somewhere listing those sites. Pricing is probably one of the most difficult aspects of weaponsmithy, there are just so many factors that go in to pricing. Best advice is to look at other smiths around you and see how your wares compare, then adjust your prices accordingly. Each person seems to have their own pricing scheme.
2. I mostly do specialty weapons (Acklay, Krayt, etc) for friends/guild mates, I don't put many of these items up for public sale. I have an alt character that I use to get loot items, so I don't buy any.
I agree though that for as much as some of the nicer loot drops sell for, it can be hard to make a nice profit off of those items.
3. Yes, I'd like a cookie.
4. I slice all of my weapons (I'm a master smuggler) that I put up for sale. The percent of the slice determines the price increase, and I have different formulas I use for speed and damage slices.
5. I harvest all of my own resources, I have two lots used up for my house in our player town, but my other eight are used for harvesters. My alt has all the factories on his lots.
6. Joining a guild can be very beneficial if there are some good people in it. The guild I'm in has been very helpful, I keep them supplied with high quality weapons, and in return I receive most of their looted schematics/components/whatnot they find. Guild mates can also be helpfull by the use of their lots for harvs/factories, most of the combat centric players don't use many of thier lots.
Good luck in your business endeavors!
