Would it be better to name my weapons the default name, such as "Flame Thrower" or what if i came up with custom names for my weapons, like this:

Scatter Pistol: Death-Bringer
2-Handed Curved Sword: Rodian Death Blade
Gaderfini Baton: Gaffi Stick
Flamethrower: The Grill-Master
2-Handed Axe: Battle Axe
Striker Pistol: Pop Gun
LLC: The Shocker
T21: Sniper Rifle
SG82: Freeze Ray
DE-10: Colt 45
Power Hammer: Nail's Worst Nightmare
Wooden Handled Axe: Lumberjack's Best Friend
Vibro Knuckler: Knucks
Stun Baton: Blue Steel
Ryyk Blade: Pirate's Sword

If i used these custom names, would it be best to name the item:

The Grill-Master

or

The Grill-Master (Flame Thrower)

Personally, i don't like putting the stats in the name of the item, but that's just personal preference. so i was just thinking maybe making custom names for each type of weapon would be a neat thing to do.

thoughts?

It is fun to give special names to things. Sometimes customers will get confused though. I try to keep the actual name of the gun in my stock weapons but if I am making an enhanced weapon I might give it an extra special name.

That was my concern. If i had a weapon on my vendor just named "Blue Steel" they won't know it's a stun baton unless they check the details on the weapon. So maybe if i named my stock weapons "Blue Steel (Stun Baton)" it would be less confusing, but would then take away from the special creative naming.

But either way, thanks to a looted weapon from Knights of the Old Republic 2, all my 2-Handed Curved Swords will forever be named "Rodian Death Blade". As a Rodian, i want to promote my people, and what better way than to stock a Rodian Weapon.

For anyone who didn't play KOTOR2, The Rodian Death Blade was an average stat sword you can loot off of a Rodian Bounty Hunter who is tracking you down.

I usually leave the default name in the weapon like Valence ADV "Stormtrooper Cracker" power hammer and I always put the stats(well almost always sometimes I fumble and hit create before the stats go on by accident)

because then people can tell the quality of the weapon by the name and its easy to tell the quality of the slice when it is sliced as well. I dont always give the weapon a special name but when I can come up with a good one I do Like I made my BH alt a Krayt LLc and named it Jedi Bane Krayt DX-2 Black Dragon and a few other things

Valence Crime Master Weaponsmith +12 EXP +25 assembly
Master Artisan +12 EXP Master Merchant Valence Weapon Design Home of the Bone Crusher VK unsliced stats 2.0 50-166. Located in beautiful downtown Swamptown Corelia
If its good it must be a Crime.

The only time i put stats in the title is if i know I am making a run to sell straight from the crate.

Since I only sell weapons that are pre-sliced or by the crate this make is easy to just run 2 seperate schems for each.

I wouldnt want to sell any pre-sliced weapons that had the base stats in the title.

Personally I am all about naming on enhanced and base weapons (Tusken Slayer = Ganderiffi) I use roman numerals to determine what number of scythe I am on my latest (Schizzithe Version XLI) I use Green Geo cube runs to make Sonic Blasters and name them (Green Wave). My base scatters are (Jedi Stalker) my enhanced scatters are (Permadeath) executioner's hacks I don't numeralize I just call them (Nightsister Butcher Knives). Recent DE-10 names: Blue, Revolution, Peacemaker, The Dirty Harry,Happiness is a Warm Gun. LLC = Electrocutioner

Same thing, for my stock weapons and crated weapons, I just put the business name before the default name. i wil change a few things if they will not confuse the customer.

For custome orders I will let the customer name it frankly as long as it is not inappropriate or make the creator look bad.

I sometimes name my weapons with obvious names. For example my LLC's are named "Jedi Zapper"

As I can make different levels of weapon Iam starting to give each level a different 'brand' name.

For example, all my top-of-the-line pistols are all in the 'Thunderstick' range, eg: Republic Blaster (69-213/2.5)'Thunderstick'by Spiglord

I'm hoping that the names stand out.....

As a consumer I think it is a little confusing to to even see brandnames before the regular weapon name. People like to see their info quick, so I normally leave the name then add the stats, then my tag at the end. But I make sure to leave the regular name at the beginning so people can quickly find what they are looking for. I will admit that on special builds I like to make cool names. ie Acklay's Revenge on an Acklay enhanced Stun Baton.
