Hey,
Atm im doing thermals to grind fs with commando. But since thermals are very expensive so i was thinking maybe i can make myself?
So my questions are:
1. Do i need MASTER weaponsmith or will 0040 hold? Since somebody told me that your pts and weapon assembly/expermintation doesnt have that big role when you craft thermals?
2. What kind of resources are needed?
3. I need to finish this grinding now before the CU gets released, when do it release? about 3 months?

Off the top of my head, I'm not sure where Thermals fall in the Munitions tree, but it's probably at least the 3rd box. However, I highly recommend that you get at least Techniques IV so that you have 7 experimentation points. Without it you'll only have 2 experimentation points, and yes experimentation does matter for grenades. The difference will be several hundreds of points for damage and quite a bit for accuracy/range.

To be perfectly honest though, you'll be much better off taking the money you'd spend to grind weaponsmith and spending itto buy grenades instead. Shop around for the best deal you can find...there are plenty of WS in the galaxy, and they all charge different prices. If you're short on cash, get some Medium harvestors and a stack of power and harvest some good steel. Even if you sell it for only 3 cpu, you'll make more than enough in a week to buy plenty of grenades...and you'll save yourself a ton of aggravation and monotonous(sp?)grinding.

Finally, I'm not sure when the CU will go live, but it will probably be at least another month or two, maybe longer.

Hope this helps.

The deal is this. When it comes to points the two extra points come in handy, but the first ten are really critical. Ten points usually lets you fill out the damage speed line on the weapon, and the extra two points will let you add 100 condition, or shave a couple points of ham. Questionable whether the tapes are worth the money people spend on them. If by result you have to jack your prices accordingly. Thats a topic for another day.

Poster what you need to do is find a reputeable weaponsmith. You cannot really follow the group line on weaponsmiths with grenades. Do not go to john smith because everyone uses john smith. You need to find a less renowned weaponsmith. You should find a good weaponsmith that just might not be in the market to make billions of credits. Once you find that smith make a large order, and be sure to offer a fair rate. Grenades are time intensive to make and the resources are hard to come buy. So be willing to pay perhaps five k a pack. At that price you should have the weaponsmiths undivided attention, and you should be able to get all the crates you will need.

Ask who ever told you that assembly & experimentation don't matter much why we pay the prices we do for the SEA's. Those little points make all the difference in the world!

On top of not having your experimentation & assembly points, you'll need to find quality materials. Even if you have your points, with trash material, all you can make is trash.

For thermals & their components, you'll need: Amorphous Gemstone, Carbonate Ore, Copper, Crism Siliclastic Ore, Inert Gas, Low Grade Ore, Metal, Polymer, Radioactive, Reactive Gas, Steel, & Thoranium Steel.

The Thoranium Steel will be the fun one. It's an uncommon spawn, and the caps on it's stats are so low that no one wants it for anything but grinding weaponsmith, making mines, orfor makingthermals.

Well without experimentation, and probably crappy resource (because the best are very expensiveand hard to find), you can probably make 1200 max damage Thermals, while the ones you buy are around 1825+ max damage. That will rea lly make a difference, and you can even buy Grenade PuP's to add 650 extra to that (with the 1825+ that is) so that will make them 2500+ grenades. If you do that with the 1200'syou'llget 1600+ grenades with the PuP's in them. So I'd say buy the Thermals much cheaper and faster.

You'd better grindthe right profs for the job, get commando 4000 and you'll grind500k FS xp/buff.You will be done before the end of the month

I am a big supplier of these on Scylla.

I would say first, dont bother to try this at home. You will need to grind for too long for something that is not in your interest.

Second, good mats are needed to make good grenades. Junk mats will make c12's that are crap but people try to move them for 10K a crate on my server. I move GREAT c12's at 20K.

So you would need mats to grind, grinding, good mats, factory time, all for something that you dont sound like you were planning on doing.

My advice is run missions, make money, and come buy the grenades then.
