Thread: how to price whatever
I have just recently been able to produce what I would consider nice weapons, however since I have been "perfecting " rifle barrels I havn't paid any attention to the going prices of the " standard" weapons. Now I understand that the market on each server can very greatly, but there should be some form of base metric for calculating a cost.
if not can the WS's of various servers please post the prices for thier most commonly requested items.
this is not intended as a billboard for spamming your shop, but more as a resource for those in the grind that may want to recoup a lil after perfecting quality, by producing some odd and end weapons
thanks
I would recommend you go around to all the weaponsmiths on your planet and or other planets, and create a list of their weapons stats and prices... then as you make your own weapons compare and price via that... That is what I did...
Also, if you want to get some business get some merchant skill and use the global market to advertise your weapons.. some merchants will even place a vendor hidden in your building and advertise for you on the global market.. course you will prolly have to pay them for that(they do have to renew the advertisement foryou, every friggin day), but its a nice ability, and gets me more business....
its near impossible to give price quotes, each server has different resources, etc...
On Tarquinas some good Ostrine ore poped in the first month and one lousy one some time after that. I have very little of it and can only make so many guns with the best stats.
I recently upped my price to 10k per ABPH.
In anticipation of the nerf people are buying crates of FWGs and Scatters at 250k. They are balking at 40k for a DX2 even though mine are the best on the server. I can only make so many ABPHs, might as well do the best I can with them.
As you can see, pricing is very server specific. As the poster above said, visit the 3 most popular weapon smiths with vendors. Record all their stats and pricing. If your stats are better, charge more. If your stats are equal, charge close to the same. If your stats are worse, dump them on the bazaar for 3k each.
As I build my weapons I add them to the list to see how they compare and price mine accordingly. Since I'm a relatively new master(2 weeks) with no ostrine and crappy plumbum that means I look for holes in the marketplace (the big guys and gals tend to forget about melee and vibro knucks are flying off the vendors). I place good low end weapons on the bazaar with advertising to all my vendors. I try to be as helpful as possible during the tell-hell sessions while I'm trying to experiment, make any reasonable custom order, and make sure to place the things people are asking for the most on my vendors. Man this is hard freakin' work!
Yesterday I sold two LLCs for 18k apiece off of two separate vendors and was psyched! Not much to the old masters I know but it was my best sale day yet. Maybe I'm actually getting a name. I had a customer actually send me a tell thanking me for the custom lance I made for him on short notice. He said it saved his butt while doing DNA samples. Makes a WS proud!
As others have said, prices for everything vary. Check you server and other weaponsmiths to make sure you're not over/under pricing. That being said, I've found that on Ahazi at least, a good guideline is 40-60 credits per unit of resource used if we're talking about master quality weapons with good (read not more than 20cpu cost) resources, and non-krayt. This gets harder with some of the more complex items like Rocket Launchers that takes days, and tons of factory runs to make. If you're looking for a general guidline though, that's the best I've found.
I use this simple equation. 10 credits per unit of resource used. So a weapon that requires 300 resources in the total construction would go for 3,000 bones.
As the refinement of the weapon increases that equation increases. So my particularly well constructed weapons go for 15 credits per unitand 20 credits per uniton my best pieces. This in the end produces a quality weapon that is affordable for the consumer and still brings in a massive margin on my part. Not to mention my stock is for some reason a hell of alot cheaper then other weaponsmiths. Hmmm... I wonder why?
For sliced weaponry I tack on an additional 50 credits per 1% increase which is half of the standard price I see slices going for. I refuse to produce Krayt weapons. That is unless it's a special order and the buyer provides the tissue themselves. Otherwise I do not produce them independantly.

Market will set the prices for you, as stated in the FAQ.
Here are my rules of thumb:
Low end ranged: 6-10k
Melee: 6-10k
High end pistols (ie dx2, scatter, ...): 12-18k
Most commando: 15-20k
Carbines: 12-18k
T21: 20-30k
Rocket Launchers: 45k
Custom work: Price of weapon + 2k custom fee
(or a tissue if I'm custom making krayt)
I am by no means the cheapest. I am also sorry that the
famously most expensive smith in my galaxy has seemed
to stop working. It was also nice to say, "But it's cheaper than ..."
