Recently I have mastered Carbineer, then very quickly got enough Carbineer XP and combat XP to jump to BH 0400 if I drop WS. I have been doing this a year now. I have three factories, four store houses, 12 vendors +8 ws exp cltohign, +114 wpn assembly comthing, and +115 Wpn repair, I have over well over 150 resource contariners seperated by melee or ranged type, and this doesnt even begin to include my stash of geo loot, and other enhancements. Since I mastered I have considered selling out. Selling it all, and going combat. What I wnat to know is what keeps you veterans like me in. I love being a WS, and Iwould hate to give up all that xp and time. But right now the grass definetly looks greener in a new field. help me out...

Last winter I was getting a bit burnt out from the weaponsmithing/running a guild/hologrinding so one day I filled my vendor, said my goodbyes, logged off and started another charachter on a different server that was only combat, no crafting and had a blast, after a few months I had almost forgotten even how to make weapons and after a few more months I came back and am having alot of fun again.

Good stuff that has been happening for me lately:

-people are actually bringing loot to me to sell in game on a regular basis so I don't have to deal with the forum auctions so much.

-I made someone a powerhammer today that turned out 730 after slice and they freaked out

-A new player came to my shop today and asked me to explain weapon stats and seemed to understand when I explained what I knew to them.

If you do drop weaponsmith, don't sell your resources cause that will pretty much close the door to ever coming back.

I don't see ever dropping WS. If I get tired of it, I'll just take a little break, but keep the skills and resources. Of course, I also have a combat alt, so that helps when crafting gets a bit tiring.

I know some people who have taken a few months or so break to do combat. Having 3 characters I can do whatever I want.. I find myself crafting the most right now but its only a fase and I will get back to more combat stuff later.

Seeing as I spent my firstpart of the game as A bh I can tell you its a fun and rewarding experience. I feal your fealings on the subject. I am just not getting the joy I used to out of being a weaponsmith. I think I am getting to a point where I have just experienced most of it up.

My oppinion is that you should be haveing the most fun possible.

I am thinking that I will probabally mass produce myself up some crates of weapons. You know enough to last forever stockpile my resources into one house, and go do something totally different.

Lets see I have master artisan weaponsmith smuggler scout marksman BH medic got pretty high up in ch. So I think maybe I might want to tryout riflemen ranger doctor tka. Just to see how those professions playout.

I really wouldnt consider it too much a loss if you keep your resources. You can grind back up in six hours.

I agree... having a combat alt is a great way to relieve the stress of crafting, but the way it's gotten for me, my main char, my combat char, is only a tool to find enhancements for my WS now :/ Just grab an alt and go kill stuff, or pick up a combat prof with your WS (I've got pikes personally.. just to have fun)

It has crossed my mind once i awhile to drop ws, but then I think back to how much time I've invested in finding and hording the best resources and go through the list of all my special customers. After that I cant' bring myself to do it. I'm not rich enough or have the time to have an alt, so I picked up pikeman for a change from crafting and plus I dropped TKM for a change in combat.

Weaponsmith is probably one of the least mastered profession in the game, next to pikeman. I remember that SOE did a survey of all masterd profs on the Bria serve and MWS and pike man had the least master. I think MWS came in at around 1,100ish.

When I get bored of crafting I just throw on some armor and go killed a few things, it always makes me feel better.

I started my Character Jenner 7 years ago on Ultima Online as a Grand Master Bowyer, When he moved here, he went straight to making weapons. no way I would give it up, been making weapons for way to long.

Plus being a weapon smith allows me to Role play a Crooked Politician. I give my citizens free weapons in exchange for votes.

I have a swordsman/rifleman alt (yeah its a loot whore template i know) noting beats having someone try to sell you overpricved components, and then outdamaging them later

I think jumping servers and having an alt all combat is a good start. If you can afford it close down your vendors and build only for your guild , yourself or your town mates if you are active in a town. I still take special orders , but a low profile works real well for me.

Haden Blackman: Yeah, all the guys who are happy with everything are playing the game. They aren't spending their time sending you guys letters or posting on the forums.
