Thread: Yehyeh we all know what the max dam cap is but what about min dam cap ? anyone??
Your right...
Most people do not understand that against a good defense your damage is going to be towards the min.
Also do not forget about elemental....
I have a Nyms slug that outdamages many "uber" weapons in pvp.
Modified speed 0.77
My min is: 336
My acid is : 162
that is 498 pts in min. damage (about the same as many rifles min.)
My sac is 85. but when i run a speed pup and ranged/ placed macro.. it fires every second, and I never get low on sac.
I have tried to hit the cap on a lvl 54... you cannot do it ( i have seen it hit on lvl 50's and below only)
I have found this the best way to craft weapons for pvp (more specifically jedi)
1) Donot use the new cells: instead get the lowest max damage / highest speed you can get in kryat (ask you weaponsmith what damage he is not able to cap with.. likely around 70 and below)
2) Use the new scopes: the accuracy is great.. and the have good speed reduction
3) Have a 12 pt weaponsmith craft the rest you need like this (with the best resourses they have)
Handlers:6 damage6 sac exp
Barrells:6 damage6 sac exp
Stocks: 9 sac3 speed exp
Final exp: 9 damage 3 sac
This will give you a weapon with a good min. damage (and with any success capped or close to capped sac)
Best of all you will be below damage cap.. this way you can do the full 8% damage slice.
All you need to do is make sure that when you add 4% to the max damage it is still below the smuggler cap. (this way even if you go over with the 3rd slice... you still bring up your min)
For example an elite carb capsat 1046 for smuggler slice ... if you have your max damage below 1000 you are good. Depending on what weapon you are crafting, ask the weaponsmith to use krayt that will allow you the full damage exp on final exp.. and still be under what you need for the 8% slice)
Hope this helps

thats why i love my Quest reward trando rifle so much. after a 8% damage slice i was sitting with around the high 500's min damage. well over 700 with a power up.
Most crafted Trando Rifle I have made has had a min dam of around 495 unsliced, so if min dam is more important to you than max dam the trando Rifle is definately the way to go

I played around using this methodand i'm not sure it makes much difference. I crafted a krayt ALR and stopped at exactly 1096. 8%slice gave me 1183 max dmg but the min dmg wasonly a fewbetter than an ALR crafted all the way to the 1180s in max dmg. Also I didn't need to use 3 for SAC on the final wep so could add a bit more speed.
The rifle crafted up to the 1180s at build was better in every respect savea few points in min dmg and after a slice for speed (maybe with a crit hit thrown in) would kick the other ones ass. It may have a few less points in min damage but the much better speed would mean you can getshots off quicker.
Still, it's the old apples/oranges thing. Everyone likes their weapons made a bit different and if it works for you that's all that matters.

The thing is you need to get the right tissue (a low max damage to avoid cap)
The thing is min and max go up at same time... so if you stop becuase you are going to go over.... you are not raising you min either.
example: at 8 exp points you stop at 460 -1100 dmg becuase next exp will take you over what you need for cap.
However if you fully damage exp. and still under cap (hence low max krayt) you will bring up your min really high.. and still be able to slice for damage.
Example With low krayt you can have 460 -940 dmg after 8 exp points... now you can still exp and bring up min and max.. getting something like 490 - 1000 (i know numbers not exact, but shows the point)
I have had HRL with a minat 500 doing this. I think it turned out 500 min 1008 max.
with slice it was 540 min dmg and with my 34.79% dmg pups it has a min at 728.. now add the 40 for elem and thats 768 min. damage on a rifle.
If you have to stop expermenting damage because you are going to go over what you need to be under for slice.... you just need to get lower max damage krayt tissue.
The key is to fully exp on damage.. and stay below the max cap for a slice.
As I said, apples and oranges. Personally for a PvP weapon i'd prefer one crafted all the way to max and sliced for Critical hit.
