Thread: Can't craft certain guns after patch??

So I log on after the EXTENDED downtime, and a guildmate wants a DXR6-b. I get all the stuff to make one, but when I start crafting I notice that despite there being 2 geo cubes in my inventory they don't show up as something I can add to the schematic. Then I notice that power handlers also do not show up... Me being the experienced SWG crafter that I am, I'm like, "What did SOE do now?"

After some more testing I see that many of my schematics are broke. Sonic blaster for example, I CAN add geo cubes, but not power handlers. There are too many to list that are broke. Projectile weapons seem ok, but I haven't look through them all. I'm on Ahazi, is anyone on other servers having this problem? If so, we need to notify some CSR's ASAP.

I figured it out. Any gun that requires multiple power handlers/feeders, won't allow you to add them to the schematic during crafting....I'm going to /bug it right now.

experiment i did;

ok, i was unable to make a laser rifle.

now then, with resources, LR (laser rifles) also need;

1 rifle barrel

3 power handlers from a crate

now, when i open the crafting station to where you add the resources/item to make the gun,

i can see and add the resources and the rifle barrel, but not the power handlers.

however, when making a DLT20a rifle (takes resources, rifle barrel, and 1 power handler) i can indeed see the power handler.

so it seems, that SOE messed up the crate code... great... 8 hours of downtime for a bug like this, man, i love this game...

what happens if you take the handlers out of the crate and try to make the laser rifle?

What if you uncheck the filter items box does that help?

Just FYI, The devs are aware of this problem and are working on the fix now.
(happening to other crafts that use factory identical parts too)

Yeah, it's happening to docs and CMs, too.

If we have to give up purple wookiees as the price for working crafing professions, is it really worth it, though?

I can give a possible explanation on how blue hair could possible brake crafting, but I really really hope that is nit the case.
It is called spaghetti programming. (direct translation from Danish, not sure it is called the same in English)
It is when a programmer is lazy and do not add comments in the code, nor make documentations of it. And then partly alters functions with loads of references to similar peaces of code used elsewhere. In the end it becomes impossible to guess what how the program will react to a change. Because you used the same function to search the inventory for weapon components as you do to search available hair styles, but you could not se that the crafters used the same function when you the function to handle the new blue hair to fit ID...
I use to make many of toughs errors my self when I was learning to program, but hopefully the Devs are A LOT more professional in thair ways, and have put such bad habits behind them.

Yep, Spagetti Programming is a term used in English, though it is a dated term used mostly in the days of the GOTO statement when coders relied too heavily on it. And yeah, this bug is really getting to me. I finally have everything to make a run of Rocket Launchers and It looks like I'm waiting a few extra days.

I've suspected spaghetti coding to be one of their problems for quite some time now. It would explain why it takes them so long to fix some bugs that you would think would be really easy to fix. This has been an on-going trend.

Weirdly enough, factory components were working fine for me right after the patch-stuff yesterday.

Oh good, I thought it was just me. I used a Geonosian sword core and I got a couple of moderate successes so I tried again, and they quitt showing up in the build window...

im not even sure how widespread this bug was, my server was one of the ones down most of the day and required emergency stability programming . this same code would be sent to the other servers not having a problem on todays update. Perhaps those not experiencing this might deal w/ it today?
