From the info that I've seen at stratics (http://swg.stratics.com/), it looks like weaponsmiths are totally being sidestepped in the SE and compacted into other professions, the pilots. So, what are your thoughts, comments, and critiques for those of you who wanted to be starship WS? I'd love to see it where the WS community is depended upon to make the components for the weapons and such, thus not making us obsolete.

I looked at the trees and it only said "basic weapons" under the "core systems" tree, maybe advanced weapons are made in the Fire Arms/Munitions trees of weaponsmith?

I am really hoping that we weaponsmiths will be able to craft advanced custom weapon systems for ships.

I think we already have a weapons component for the se. Ever wondered what that heavy warhead was for? From what I understood it was to go into vehicles. Which will never come out now, and in the space craft. I think they are equivalent to missiles.

They have talked about interdepency of the professions before, and the space expansion is a real opportunity for that to happen. In my mind what should happen is that we can provide new mountable weapons, schematics only available after the SE is purchased by a player. Armorsmiths should be able to add shields/hull plates, image designers should be able to customise the look of the ship, tailors should get a bunch of new flight uniforms, chefs get new foods to aid the new skill requirements, smugglers should be heavily involved somehow etc etc. If they just make it "Shipwrights make them and pilots fly them" then they are wasting everybodies time.
I was disappointed that three of the professions turned out to be "Pilot Rebel/Pilot Neutral/Pilot Imp" - I was hoping for something more imaginative somehow.
