Thx for your reply

May have to limit my use of them in the future - although Pistols don't cost a fortune to replace

powerups cause weapons to decay about three times as fast: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=weaponsmith&message.id=24149

This is something I'd really like SOE to remove from the game. Powerups are fairly costly and are a limited-use item. Isn't that enough of a counter-balance to their use? Increasing weapon decay is just silly imo. Does anyone agree with me on this?

In my oppinion its justified. Its a nice way for someone who cannot afford krayt weaponry to sort of measure up. I have used them in pvp to great effect. The problem is that most players are just terrified of increased decay which they should not be. What the devs really need to do is increase the uses on them. To something like five hundred. Putting on another attachment during a fight is what hurts the system the most.

Another nice thing is if attachments would allow a lowlevel state to be applied. It would be nice to give a gun a low chance of bleed burn or poison reguardless of the attacks used. I am talking like a 2 or 3 percent chance to this. As it stands now only very good pvp players avail themselves of this inexpensive tool.

Sorry if this has been asked before . . .

I have noticed that when using a max damge powerup on my Pistol it's condition seems to fall 4-5 quicker than if I don't use a power up.

ie On a single quenker mission WITH a powerup it dropped 25, and without it only dropped 5.

Is this a side effect of using weappn powerups? Or just me

Sorry bit ofa noob to combat proffs.

I make power-ups for a living...and have tested almost all of what I have ever produced since launch.

The answer is...yes,..they do speed up weapon decay. But not to the apparent extent as most people see. This is, of course, only an opinion based on my experience.

Weapon decay is a factor of :

a) Usage i.e. no. of shots or attacks.

b) Power or damage of the weapon

Point a) is pure logic. The more shots you fire, the more decay happens. So, if you use a 33.2% speed power-up on your weapon, it stands to logic that your weapon will appear to deteriorate 33.2% faster than normal.

Point b) is a little hazy. It appears that the more powerful your weapon, the faster the decay. I cannot give any estimates of the relationship between power and decay rate as both the max and min damage of the weapon are involved. Using a 33.2% max dmg/16.3% min dmg power-up will apparently speed up decay because you make more powerful attacks.

On top of this, there appears to be a 2% - 3% increased rate of decay when a power-up is used. I suppose this is the dev's counter-balance to an increased chance of completing a mission, or for less time taken for missions.

All in all, with the exception of "enhanced" weapons, which are rare...most weapons are common and affordable. Hence, power-ups are a small price to pay for a significant increase in weapon performance, and a faster rate of credit farming.

Just like the others have said Pups do increase decay massivly.

Without using PUPs i can last 3 days or so hunting dragons before i have to bug a weaponsmith for a repair but on days when i have people follwing me so i have to use Pups to make sure i get loot i wear my 2 hunting t21s down to the nub a few hours of fighting.

I personaly think this system of decay is well implimented (not something i say about all aspects of this game) cause it forces a decision to be made on how fast you want o wear out your weapon vs how much damage you want to do.

I personly tend not to use them for PVE (unless fighting for loot) but always use them for PVP where every pnt counts. That also wears out my PVP guns faster than they otherwisse would forcing me to find replacements for my enhanced weapons that would otherwise last me as long as i play the game
