First off, I just made Master Weaponsmith. Having finished the hologrind, I chose to make a weaponsmith and establish a shop. Living thru the grinding, I became master a 2nd time without making a single weapon. My main character is a Master Doc so I understand schematics and how to read them for the best resources. I have been collecting resources for over 8 months and have a nice inventory.
As a master doc, I know what advanced components I use and what are the best stats available on my server for that component. I also know which stats to experiment with to get the best possible results on the end product.
Which raises 2 questions:
1. Has anyone compiled a list of stats on Regular components vs Advanced Components. IE: Sword Cores Max 15 vs Advanced Sword Cores max 41(or higher if they go that high).
1a What do you experiment on when making components -- does effectiveness on Weapon scopes do any good as I see no stats change however range does seem to change. (forgive me if I am incorrect on the 4 choices).
2. What do you use most of your experimentation points in? Efficiency, effectiveness, range, etc. Is range a factor in certain weapons and not others? Where do you place them. As a doc, most of my experimentation points go into power except for one component where I max out on charges. Discovering this, I noticed that power on this component made maybe 5 points more power on the end product. For a stim pack no big deal, however for a buff it is a different story.
On a final note, after having mastered over 24 professions and using these forums as a guide, Weaponsmith is by far the most informative forum I have come across.

i would say most of the info your looking for comes with experimenting with the class, thats part of the fun trying to figure out tweaks to weapons. i myself use advance components were i can(except for scopes). some people use normal blaster rifles for increased speed, some dont. most non advance components offer a speed increase to the weapon Vs the higher damage potential of their advance counterparts. just play around with it, fool around making lower weapons with advance parts and non advanced, see if you notice a big difference. its part of the fun and frustration

For 1a. I assume you are talking about Damage when you say Effectiveness?
You'll note that Scopes *don't* alter the Damage a weapon does, but they do increase the Wound %.
Personally, for scope I experiment the Range. Give the weapon a higher accuracy mod.
The Advanced Scopes kinda suck., having a HAM hit of 30, as compared to the HAM hit of 10 in the basic.
However, on the Basic Scope, it takes about 4-5 experiment points to get the Accuracy Mod up to +17 or so.
On the Advanced, it takes 2 to get to the same. I find with the Advanced Scope, I can bounce the Accuracy mod up to +20 or so, and dump the rest into HAM, bringing it *almost* down to the same level as the Basic.

After you get a better chromium alum spawn, adv scopes become massively better than normal. Lowca had only horrible chromiums from launch until winter and the adv scopes were worse than normal scopes in every stat. Then some 900+ OQ chromium spawned and adv scopes went to +22 accuracy 3 HAM or +39 accuracy 13 HAM.

On the scope question I've finally settled for producing non-advanced scopes. But I experiment the HAM down to 0, then whatever is left on range. It essenitally gives a nice boost to accuracy for no HAM cost (well it rounds up to 1/1/1 - but nothing to worry about) - still not sure if the customers notice though. But I figure they will appreciate it subconsciously out in the field.

I basically use advanced components for everything except the scopes and sometimes the rifle barrels..........I can experiment scopes down to like 6 HAMs and use the rest for range which is a nice 10-12 and the ham hit isn't that big.............
