I've juts been wondering what the devs could do to provide opportunities to make the game more interesting for us. We cannot be content with loot dropped schematics and enhancements. It's my belief that we need to ask for an opportunity to customize our weapons beyond how we spend experimentation points. Even the experimentation system needs some retooling IMHO. I'm looking to start a discussion on what the weaponsmith community believes which would make the profession a bit more interesting.

1. Some people have suggested that we should be able to customize damage types. I'm not to sure about this as it would definately step on the kinetic is for melee mantra the devs adhere to. It also has the potential to be horribly abused. I could only imagine a T21 with stun damage being somewhat of a problem in PVP..then again some of the looted schematics allready perform on a comparitive basis

2. Advanced Components provide AP rather as well as better damage. With the resources being gated as they are the damage increase with advanced blasters is marginal. I'll admit they probably make a better well rounded component than basic blaster barrels but something really need to be done to improve the performance of these weapons.

3. More effective HAM and range mods on experimentation successes. These lines of experimentation are pretty much just throw away after damage has been maxed.

4. The ability to design and manufacture our own specific weapons. This appears to be very doable with a few tweaks to crafting. The problem is maintaining balance.

5. Manufactured enhancements rather that ridiculous objects like spider fangs, Gorax bones and Krayt tissue. Make these enhancements expire after a certain number of uses or repairs.

6. Diagnostic/repair stations....this could be for alomst any crafter...A station which would bost the effectiveness or repair tools. (In Star Wars cannon they appeared to have some kind of repair station in Episode 2)

Im just going to give my opinion on these...

1) I dont like it...if you want a weapon to do a certain type of damage, buy another weapon. Think of a weapon vendor if this was the case. There would be like a hand full of weapons on it, 1 per profession.

2) I like the sound of that, weapons with basic components dont have AP, but Adv Component provide the current AP level.

3) I'm pretty happy with the way this is atm

4) Like it/ agree

5) Powerups ?

6) Yeah, or at least fix the current repair system, there are no repair bonus for Masters? or for anyone for that matter ? i'd like to see something set in stone about item repairs...

all up, good post keep it up...

Just responding

1. Though I think the idea has potential it presents too many problems. I've studied some of their working as intended designs and if other damage were to be applied then there would be serious blance problems.

2. I still believe that there should be more benefits to using advanced components. Rhodium steel appears to be our problem here. The gating on this resource is ridiculously low.

3. I'm still under the beleief that at this point anything but damage is throw away experimentation. I would like the profession to have multiplle experimentation lines. Presently an experimentation poiint for 2 points of HAM is a waste.

4. ok we agree but how could it be implemented

5. I was thinking of something a bit more powerful that the standard powerup.

6. I'm a master weaponsmith and I cant fix a stupid scout blaster without major condition damage. Thats just taking decay to far.
