my #1 thing I would like to know but still don't is ..what is a12 point weaponsmith and #2 how do I get it ?

I think the previous poster pretty much covered what 12points is. As far as getting the extra exp points it's rather expensive and helpful though not required. Most of the damage is created based on your resources and the original 10 points you get as master. The extra two points can help with range/ham/condition etc... Very rarely are the extra 2 points actually used to create higher damage weapons as your resources are typically your limiting factor.

Keeping that in mind the same weapon with identical stats but with better range mods will ultimately do more damage. However most of the client base doesn't notice the range mods on most weapons. currently on our server(valcyn) there is pretty heavy competition on exp tapes/clothes right now for WS so it will be expensive unless you know someone personally that has some they are selling. Expect to pay roughly between 1-2million per point so for 20 exp points in tapes you will need to expect to pay somewhere between 20-40million credits. Also the larger the number on a single tape typically the more expensive it is. I currently have about 15 of the 20 points I need and still lookin for the remaining points. So far I've spent roughly 22mill or so on tapes and expect to probably spend another 10mill or so for the rest of them. If you have any questions feel free to ask ingame. I play on the same server as you and would be happy to help if I can. Your biggest challenge will probably be getting the resources needed to make good weapons. WS uses a lot of very specific resources that you'll need to get your hands on. Good luck and welcome to the club. This is probably the best crafting profession in my opinion(for entertainment value). Most of the other crafting professions dont' require any thought at all but there is so much that you can do with WS that it really makes crafting challenging and fun.

When you master WS, you will have +100 weapon experimentation. Every +10 you get gives you one experimentation point to use when making weapons. At master, you would of course have 10 points. By gathering enough + weapon experimentation clothing attachments, you can get another +20, which would be another 2 points to use. 2 points is as many extra as you can get. There are a couple ways to get them. Watch the Valcyn trade forums, thats the easy, expensive way. The hard, cheap way is to find people in the game, friends hopefully, that you can get a good deal from. With 10 points you can max damage on any weapon. The 2 points are nice to make better components and improve stats on the final weapon (preferably condition as it gives you the most return). Doing this can set you apart from the otherweaponsmiths on your server.

Also, know that the difference between being a 10pt smith and a 12pt smith only comes into play when you are at or near the top of the WS community. The tapes are so expensive these days, that new smiths who buy them immediately find themselves operating their business from a 20M defecit, with norelief in sight. The resources they have are not nearly good enough to take full advantage of those 2 extra points.

Resources are what define a weaponsmith, not skill tapes. The weapons you make are capped by the quality of resources you use. Even if you had 50 experiment points to use, it will do you no good if your resources are only average. The extra skill points make for a nice flourish, but are not neccessary to be a top smith. Good resources are the most important things you need.

My advice would be to not worry about being a 12pt smith at this time. Study your schematics, go to swgcraft.com - know what you need and know what's available. It's homework that separates the elite smiths from the dabblers. Save that 20M you would spend on attachments and use it to buy the best resources you can find. Build your business. And when the quality of your weapons gets to within 1-2% of the top smiths on your server, then go out and get those extra 2 points. By that time, the money you spend on tapes will be from your profits, and a sound investment.

I wish you the best of luck

Maybe someone already said this but if not..

SOE changed crafting system for one day...most of the weaponsmiths complained so the change was reversed. If that crafting system will be used in the future, only the 12 points weaponsmiths will be able to make real good weapons.

For now it doesnt matter much, not concerning damage or speed at least.
